Hey there,

Was thinking of starting slaves to darkness and this kind of warband seemed exactly like what I'd want. A few tanky warriors units to sit on objectives and a bunch of cavalry/chariots to move around and be annoying and reactive, which works even better when they all can shoot arcane bolts and rend a little better.

But first a few questions
1) The battalion looks pretty self-explanatory that the each unit can shoot an arcane bolt and that the wizards can shoot 2. But I've read elsewhere that only one can be attempted per turn? Some kind of rule of 1? It would seem like the specific would superseed the general rules but wanted to clarify this. It even explicitly states that wizards can fire off 2, but my reading of other forums so I felt like I needed to clarify it.
2) Do characters count as 'units' for the purposes of hitting 9 units in this battalion
3) Could this be run in a disciples of tzeentch army? The fate dice seem much stronger than the Slaves bonus of rerolling 1s on saves.

And the biggest one:
4) Is this reasonable and playable as a casual army? Thinking ~3 characters, 2x5-10 knights, 2x marauder cavalry, 1 unit of chariots and maybe a few warriors units or a shrine to finish things out.

Wow, I never even noticed the Arcane Bolt part! But in Matched Play (tournaments) you can only use that once per turn. Open or Narrative play it's Arcane Bolts all over the place unless players say no ahead of time.

It's tough to fit all we want in that Warband, but it's certainly good for stuff with lots of Rend - attacks. But super especially for units that can take 9 models or in multiples of 9.....the characters DO count for the number of mortal Tzeentch units.

I vote for Warriors, but Tzzangors and Acolytes are excellent too. I am doing Fatemaster and Lord of Chaos for my heroes to start, and if you run out of points, Spawn! I'm also liking Gorebeast Chariots for the Fatesworn Warband.

Another way to do it is one max unit of Warriors, couple heroes, the rest Spawn. Then get a Sayl the Faithless to fling the warrior blob forth to gum up and tear up the backfield!
