hey guy's,

i'm looking for advice on starting a age of sigmar army.

i used to play warhammer alot (orc's and goblins) but after they blew up that world i decided to stop with it and sold all my models.... :(

i also play alot of 40k, but with the new age of sigmar rules and models comming out i wanted to pick things up with the fantasy side.

my question to you guy's is.

what are good and fun army's to play with?

are urruks and grots worth bying? i do like those boar riders and the models from the nightmoon clan. can you still combine them in an army and if so is it worth the trouble competetive wise? (army of destruction?)

i'm also keen on those new nighthaunt models. is that a good army to start with also?

what are the most competetive army's in the game now?

alot of questions i know. but i hope you guy's can give me some pointers and help me out.

greetings

Just wait when GW presents the new Moonclan faction. They are supposed to drop info in a couple of month. Then I suggest looking for youtube battle reports showing how they look and what they can accomplish on the battlefield. If they are to your liking purchase them but don´t waste money now on an impulse buy.

yeah cant wait to see when they come out. alway's liked night goblins... sorry moonclan...

but are orruks a competitive army? i like the way they look but they seem to lack "different" models.

is it worth combining orruks, moonclan and venomclans?

I am assuming by your highlighting of the question is it competitive that you are looking at a tournament force that can win tournaments.

If that is true I'd say no, currently any of the Destruction forces are going to be playing an uphill battle in a powergaming context. At least right now with how things stand.

Welcome back. I, too, used to have a mighty green horde that hasn't seen play since the end times. It's been collecting dust for a couple of years, but they're staying on their square bases, damnit.

It seems AoS has crystalized into yet another semi competitive game, but without the live patching that systems like warmachine use. This means that if your faction sucks, you pretty much have to wait a year for the new general's handbook.

As a recovering fantasy player, I recommend you look at factions that you never played before. It's for this reason I avoided Iron Jawz and Bonesplitterz. It would make me actively compare my experiences to old fantasy, even if AoS really had nothing in common with it.

The best thing about AoS like every other GW game is it's beautiful model range, solid lore and being super fun to play. Pick a army you like the look of and roll with it.

A Song of Ice and Fire - House Greyjoy.
AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.
Bloodbowl - Lizardmen.
Horus Heresy - World Eaters.
Marvel Crisis Protocol - Avengers, Brotherhood of Mutants & Cabal.
Middle Earth Strategy Battle game - Rivendell & The Easterlings.
The Ninth Age - Beast Herds & Highborn Elves.
Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

Wait it out a little bit longer. Only three years in and they can’t quite get the game straight. GIVE THEM MORE TIME!!!!
