Hello Everyone,

I'm starting a blog to document my most recent attempt at starting up an Emperor's Children/Slaanesh Daemons/Slaanesh Mortals force. For now I have the first two Noise Marines of a ten man squad, as well as 3 others that are currently PiP and 5 more that are currently waiting to be primed. On top of this I have 20 Daemonettes, 5 seekers, 2 Heralds, A Seeker Chariot and a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh as well as 20 Tempestus Scions that are converted up as Chaos Cultists/Traitor Guard that I pledge to paint before I buy anything else!

Onto the photos:

Super stuff.

If you're into Daemonettes, Seekers, Heralds and Chariots, the Start Collecting! box is insanely good value.

Thanks!

Yeah I think the box looks like great value for what it contains, I'll be looking to grab one (or two, or three...) once I've finished everything else up

Although, FYI, the Seekers in the SC! box have totally different bases to either of the kind that come in the Seekers box.

They're oval.

Oh really? Are the bases in new seeker boxes also Ovals or is it just a SC! thing?

Looking good! that light blue as an accent color works sooo good. Looks cool. I also love the way you did the cloth on the champion,

The GW website says the Seekers box comes with five Bike bases and five 25x40mm bases, so apparently it's just an SC! thing.

Huh, that's super strange...

With the wrath and rapture teaser trailer and rumours of a Slaanesh drop in the apparently near future, I've been encouraged with renewed vigour to finish up my units so expect some more marines in the next few days

As promised an update on the Noise Marine squad. I took these on my mobile so the quality and colour balance are off but I wanted to show that the three members posted earlier are all almost finished, just some tidying up to be done.

Update to yesterdays post. The first five Noise Marines are now finished, I'm quite happy with how they've turned out, but I will probably come back to them at some point to do some more tidying. Anyway, on to the pictures:

Thanks! I wanted the accent colours to really pop so went for bright blue and bright green. On some of the sonic blasters I've also added a yellow piping, but I'm not too sure about it.

monkeytroll wrote:Nice scheme for the seeker.

Thanks, I wanted the daemons to have a pastel look to them but I also wanted to differentiate between rider and mount so using a softer cream for the scaly part of the seeker allowed me to break up the colour somewhat
[Thumb - IMG_9687.JPG]
Not as happy with this one as the rest, the helmet was thick with paint before I started and I probably should have replaced it before repainting the model

[Thumb - IMG_9688.JPG]
In contrast, I'm very happy with this one. From the pose to the paint job I think this model conveys alot of character.

Blastmaster wielder, not sure on the rules for this guy, I'll need to dust off my old codex but again I'm pretty happy with how he's turned out

[Thumb - IMG_9692.JPG]
Squad photo, I'll probably run these guys in a few games of Kill-team before I flesh out the rest of the force

Big Update!

I've been working away on a few kill teams for myself and my girlfriend and it was my Birthday on Wednesday so I've been away for a while, only to be off on holiday for the next 2 weeks but progress is being made.

I've constructed a few more marines, including another champion. I'm currently planning to run the marines in MSU's of 6 with kitted out champions, sonic blasters and icon bearers/blastmasters that can be swapped in and out as needed. Is this still a viable tactic in this edition? I've collected lots since I last played but haven't actually played since 3.5...

Onto the model progress

[Thumb - IMG_9704.JPG]
Girlfriend very kindly bought me a unit of Kakophoni, a Palantine Blades and the head upgrades for the EC from Forgeworld

[Thumb - IMG_9698.JPG]
Something different - I've assembled 3 cultists to join my killteam and I might expand them into a unit for 40k.

[Thumb - IMG_9699.JPG]
Torsos and heads are GW Hellstriders, Arms are from DE wracks and the legs are from Frostgrave Barbarians

[Thumb - IMG_9700.JPG]
Thoughts on these? I'm really happy with them but not sure if they look cult-y enough

[Thumb - IMG_9701.JPG]
I also found this Creature Caster Pincer Daemon that I backed on Kickstarter several years ago. He's made with the backer exclusive head, I'm keeping the exclusive sword for a Daemon Prince that I have started conceptualising.

Update before I head off for 2 weeks. I've managed to build a commander for my Noise Marine force as it currently stands. Allow me to present (a very, very early version of) the current leader of my warband: Former Sergeant of the 32nd Company, Blessed Son of the Dark Prince, Scourge of Adenum IV and Lord of the Soulflayers; Krysithius Bericosian.

In game I will probably run him as a Sorcerer, but he could easily be used as a generic lord. The front hoof needs to be moved further back and the other miliput parts need tidying up, but overall I am very happy with how it has turned out.

Thanks! I'm really happy with how they've turned out. They need a little filling around the waist but other than that the parts go together surprisingly well.

The only real issue is cost per model, thankfully I had the bits lying around for 3 or 4 of these guys but buying more bits would start to get very expensive.

I'm back!

After a great holiday and some much needed time off I am now focused on working these guys to a completed, painted army.

With two new additions to the force (a Plasma/Melta gunner and a CC marine) I was able to field my little kill team at the store today. Within the next few days I plan to finish up the 2nd squad and the HQ so that I can begin fielding the force as a proper 40k army.

Update time!

I've got the paint on the Sorcerer, he needs a little bit of work I think, but if I keep adding I'll never stop

As well as the Sorcerer I have finished a marine armed with a bolter sized sonic blaster courtesy of Spellcrow. I have a squad of these guys primed and plan to use them as sonic blasters or plasma vets or bolter armed noise marines.

I've also managed to put together a pair of lords for my force. One is more 'bling' and will be used as the main lord, whereas the other will sometimes be used as a squad leader.

Finally, I have converted up a squad of 3 Obliterators with mark of Slaanesh. These guys are based on Chaos Terminator models with tyranid, adeptus custodes, 3rd party parts and Noise marine bits to create sonic weapon looking guns for them to use in game. Overall I'm happy with how these two currently look, although I'm hoping they will encourage some discussion as I'm not 100% convinced.

Big fan, but I think your Sorceror needs some emphasis. He reads as a Champion, IMO.

Great looking Noise Marines, I agree with a comment above about the Sorc looking like a champion. Great use of the raptor legs, gives your models a real sense of dynamism.

It's hard to kitbash a Sorceror without falling back on cliches, unfortunately. I fell back on cliches and gave mine a skirt and a staff from the Daemonettes box.

Spoiler:

If you can get hold of some Flagellants bitz, you could try the other cliche of modelling a fireball coming off his palm?

Nice sorcerer! I think I'll do something similar, I've got some Kromlech cloaked torsos that would look pretty good as well as a spare staff from the Daemonettes kit, I'll mock a sorcerer 2.0 up once I get some GW CSM legs.

My guy's skirt is made from a mustard-tube and a few pouches and bitz from the CSM/Possessed sprue to hide some of the uglier joins.

I've recently decided that my Psykers aren't going to have legs any more; I'm going to stick on bits of sprue to give the impression of legs and then just cover the entire lower half with a skirt. It'll allow me to eke out a few extra minis on my meagre budget.

Hi everyone, I've got a fairly big update today. I've built up a few more HQ's for variety as well as a CCS of Noise Marines that I will field as a bare bones bolt pistol/chainsword unit. I also have a Helbrute that I plan to build as a fire-support unit with missile launcher and Lascannon/autocannon.

Changed the weapon on this lord to allow me to play him as a Dark Apostle if I want

Thanks for the kind words I'm glad you like the conversions, I've had this army in various forms for many years so it's great to finally put some real work into it and make it something that I'm happy to field. I've always enjoyed the modelling aspect of the hobby and where better to model crazy things than in the service of chaos!

Little update for now, I'm working on the next batch of Marines for the army. I should have this one done by tonight and hopefully the rest will be done in fairly quick order. I'm using a wet palette for these guys and a slightly different take on my purple recipe which I think is really improving my work.
