A second instalment of my Troops on Parade feature, reviewing some of my figure collections.

This time it's a chance to see Alexanders Giant Phalanx (ohhh...Matron), you don't get that opportunity every day !

Hardly ever gamed with as I have never found a set of rules for Ancients, most sets are designed for competition or points based games or in other words everything I hate, didn't take to Hail Salad either.

Lots more pics and info on't blog.

Looks like a whole bunch of miniatures to me! I mean a WHOLE bunch. Amazing yarkshire. Always love your batreps. Wish I was somewhere nearby so I could participate.

Regarding Ancients, have you tried La Art de la Guerre? It is points based but looks pretty fun. Kings of War Historicals is a nice beer and pretzls game...

What do you like? Aide de camp IIRC?

I love the Mercenary Hoplites backing up the main line.

Cheers Everyone,

Figure count is just shy of 700, which for me is quite a small army !

I'll check out those other rules cheers.

Rules I do like tend to be ones I have written myself and I do have ideas for an Ancients set, just never got round to finalising them.

Ones I do play (relatively) unchanged are ACW JR2, AWI British Grenadier, SYW Die Kriegskunst.

Huge changes General de Brigade Naps, Disposable Hero's WW2 and SCW, Forlorn Hope ECW.

Home Grown, Nap, WW1 and WW2 Naval.

Looking great! Always fancied me a box of macedonians. The ones from warlord though, in 28mm. I'm daunted by the amount of minis.

I recommend the Victrix ones in 28mm.

Thats a great army, I painted two 15mm armies (Roman and Egyptian) back in the 1990s for a friend and it involves a lot of work, yours look fantastic

Amazing army! I have a DBM scaled 15mm Qin, and a Anchient Spanish...and I bogged down painting "infinite numbers of Caetradi" lol. I've always wanted a macedonian army, but maybe someday...
