Hi All,

just a quick canvas of interest. Would anyone be prepared to support a kick-starter project for sci-fi/40k comparable civilian/militia figures?

Obvious uses in Judge Dredd, Rogue Trader, Conscripts, Frateris, objective markers and so on.

Cheers,

M

Personally no. I primarily play GW games as far as miniatures go, and I play in stores. So it's 1st party only for me I'm afraid!

Yes! Some good civilian miniatures (and not just human) would be excellent!

Yes, but not at boutique prices that invariably accompany metal or resin minis.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Have you checked out the existing plastic civilian models available?

Are there existing plastic civilian models available? Where?

Civilian minis were available, at ‘boutique prices’, from a third party supplier.

I'd be interested, but really more in corpses ...

I've seen some wonderful board setups, with amazing terrain and scatter bits'n'bobs, but I always wonder "Where are the piles of slaughtered civis?"

I'd love some civilian models. They'd be great for objective markers or conscripts or even to base a narrative game around saving/killing important civilians.

Also - as WarDrone mentioned - some well made bodies or skeletons would be really good too. Its a bit nonsensical that there are so many skulls lying around everywhere without the rest of the body.

There is some company that makes things that 'could' be used as bodies, but they were designed to be hung on chaos vehicles and I'd have to chop them up/bury them in order for them to look right on bases.

And personally - Im ok with boutique prices for good models. It's not as if I'm going to buy a whole army's worth.

Wargames Foundry has a lot but in metal.
Other exist in metal like colony 87, Specter (https://www.spectreminiatures.com/collections/mena-civilians), pulp (https://pulpfigures.com/products/), other stuff (http://www.campaign-game-miniatures.com/civilians/womenfolk-children-youths-random-8-of-8-designs-2817.html), (http://www.scalecreep.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=3905_3718), (http://www.no-go-zone.com), then there are reaper bones, Heroclix, plastic Mantic space zombies (well they used to be civilians),

These really aren't the same thing. The militia is a mix of randomness + aliens. The 'survivors' are clearly geared toward a modern-day zombie game or something similar.

Appreciate the google-fu, but I was thinking more GW styled figures - the Colony sets are the best fit currently, but are a bit rich for my tastes. Additionally, they have limited functionality as militia.

Google fu? Thats my model collection - though I did have to look for the links

The Blanchitsu articles probably capture the generic 40k look, otherwise it can be a myriad of settings and appearances. Maybe you want some accessories that converts any civilian model into a 40k'ish one? Otherwise are you going for average hive world? Agri world? Religious nutball? Again the blanchitsu articles give a good flavour of different militia looks...
