I wonder if you have any clues as to how a proper imperial soup should be composed.

I am currently building a roster for a 1100 friendly tournament. I started with AdMech and currently I'm adding some IG to the mix. Maybe this list may serve as a beginning of a discussion on the topic. What do you guys think?

My thinking here was how to make AdMech work in a semi-competitive environment. I wanted to take what is best in AdMech and find a suppliment which would make it work. This time I decided to go with fairly mobile infantry detatchment to provide screen, bodies, dice and some table control.

What exactly are you trying to achieve with your IG infantry squads? Without any heavy weapons or special weapons, it's very unlikely that they are going to damage anything, if that something is not another IG infantry squad. At the very least you should give them vox-casters so that your company commanders can give them orders from a slightly farther distance, so that they don't all have to sit in one big blob-to-be-murdered-by-your-opponents.

I would avoid the Chimera. There’s no value to it that a second Guard squad, or two, wouldn’t be a better point value.

Your IG squads should, at minimum, have Plasma Guns. All scenarios result in a favourable expense *unlesss* your only targets are other Guardsmen. I strongly suggest Lascannons unless you’re actively planning on advancing as speed bumps for other units. Remember, everything can “split fire” between different targets.

What I am planning to achieve with this ammount of infantry is grabbing objectives (this is why there is a Chimera) and screening my heavy units from assault. Sometimes they will maybe fight some cultists or other basic infantry types, but also they are to soak the damage which would otherwise be pointed at more valuable units.

I also plan to advance like crazy. I even changed the Doctrine to Tallarn to be able to move and shoot more effectively.

Unlickily, the deadline for the rosters has passed so I cannot make changes, but I'll let you know if it works out.

Chimera's are pretty bad this edition, in no small part because move move move! means infantry squads don't actually need them to get around. You would, in the future, be better served by ditching the chimera and spending the points on something else, like a hellhound, Russ, Basilisk, Manticore, more infantry squads, or just upgrades for existing units.
