Evening all,
Long time lurker (2010ish) but had nothing to add/ask until recently. (40K Conquest).
I started collecting GW figures in about 1990 (WD 128 with the acetate 40K vehicle targetting grid) and then quickly got WD127 as I was going to collect Eldar whilst my friends were going to be Orks and Imperial Guard. (Funnily enough no Space Marines). I moved shortly after and fell out of buying minatures which I would then ruin with Humbrol enamel paints and huge brushes. Had a brief flurry with 2nd Ed AD&D in 1992-93.
Got back into GW briefly at Uni and started collecting WHFB Orks and updating my 40K Eldar. All then went quiet, however various ugly paint jobs goaded me into repainting my figures in about 2010 and unfortunately I developed a very serious habit. From the initial thoughts of painting up about 4000pts of Eldar in modern money (a pack of 5 lead Aspect Warriors was 2.99 when I started) and 2000pts of Orcs and Goblins went a little bit mental as I thought I'd get a couple of 'companion' armies for each game.
As it stands I'm just to finish painting the last 7 warlocks and Hemlock Wraithfighter of about 13000pts of Eldar (Pts from previous edition of 40K as I had to stop keeping up to date buying all of the new kits) before I move onto 7000pts of Marines. I've also got figures from Tau, Necron, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, Tyranids, Orks, IG and CSM to paint up. WHFB also has similar 'creep'. In short I need an infinite amount of monkeys with an infinite amount of paint brushes to paint up all of my figures by the time I die of old age. The really sad thing is I've got a good few years to wait until my kids are old enough to play...
That's about it really. I am probably the reason GW has record profits...
Sorry.
