Hello all!

I've been lurking on the forum every now and then for the past several months and decided it's time to properly join. I started playing 40k around February of this year after being inspired by a friend to finally pursue a childhood interest. I was in the midst of completing my MFA in interdisciplinary art and needed a way to relax in the evenings. Working on miniatures seemed like a good way to keep my hands busy while also giving me a break from my studio practice. Well, somewhere along the line this turned into an obsession. I've been playing Total War games since the first Shogun game, but find I know longer have the patience for computer or video games. The modeling aspect of this new hobby satisfies my need to be creative while the tabletop wargaming side is satisfies the tactical challenge I also crave.

I currently collect and run about 2000pts of Tyranids/ Genestealer cult. I've been a huge fan of Alien and anything xenomorphs since my dad forced me to watch the movie when I was about 11. I think he thought it was funny to terrify me. Of course I didn't sleep for a week. I'd play a pure cult list if I could, but alas, the lack of unit variety and codex hurts - at least the latter is soon to be remedied. I'm also planning to start work on an Iron Warriors army in the new year, which means I'll be running some prospective lists by you all soon!

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with you all and if you're ever in the Reno, NV area I'd love to meet up for a battle.

Welcome to being more overt on Dakka! I am also a long-time lurker/recent poster as of a few months ago. The key is to take your time, but be involved. I need to post more often to fulfil that last bit. But we can't think of it as a chore. It's a hobby in the end.

I look forward to seeing what you've done with your Tyranids.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
