I'm looking to make a unit of tzeentch flamers in a daemons detachment that is attached to my Alpha Legion. But, and I might be the only one who thinks this, I think the Flamer models are just awful. (Most of the Daemon models are terrible tbh, they're all in need of an update imo).

Anyway, as it's for Alpha, I thought a conversion/counts as would work quite well, if I had them made into some kind of special-ops Flamer team. Double flame pistols on every model, something like that, to shot that a) they're flame weapons and b) they're pistol based (which should make it easy for any opponents to keep track of).

Of course, they're also Fly models... which means I have to somehow do that too.

Raptors came to mind, and I don't plan to run any actual Raptors at the moment, so that might work... but it might be confusing enough that the enemy thinks they're going to attack T4/3+ models instead of T3/4++ models...

So before I started, thought I'd see if anyone had any other ideas. Imperial guard style models would be ok, but not sure how well they'd couple with jet packs.

Sisters with wings and double inferno pistols might work though...

Nighthaunt models with their cloaks painted like they were made of flames could work and shouldn't get confused as anything else. Maybe myrmourn banshees or dreadscythe harridans. Solves the problem of not looking like they fly and they're less likely to have to keep reminding your opponent what they are.

If you're set on a spec ops team look maybe throw some flamers on kairic acolytes and put them on discs or screamers to show they fly.

Dark Eldar Mandrake models with scourge wings attached

Square Bases for Life!
AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K
40K is fantasy in space, not sci-fi

If you use the myrmourn banshees for flamers it has the benefit of being a bit cheaper too.

Haha so, believe it or not, my alternative to the normal guard-style 'special ops' was to make them more ghost-like in appearance, and maybe run them with a changeling, and have it look like... kind of like invisibility/camoflage cloaks. The Mymourn and the Harridans were both on my short list for that. I wasn't sure how well they'd work when I change their swords/scythes for pistols though.

I mean I wouldn't need to use pistols in their cases I guess, as the actual flamer models don't carry any, but I'd want to have their hands magical or something maybe... but I think it would work either way.

The harridans probably work better because their scythes are part of their body instead of holding daggers like the myrmourns. Just paint them more like talons or something instead of bits of metal fused to the wrist. Converting is always an options too but doesn't hurt to do a test model to see if you want to hack off their hands.

I quite like the bodies of the Bladegheists, the cloaked forms work well I think. But I'm not sure how the arms would look after the swords are removed...

Harridans probably have the better pose. Might pick up a set of both and see whats what.

Curious to see what other responses I get on here though
