I eat burgers pretty often. At least once a week.

If I’m in a rush I usually go with McDonalds style.. Ketchup, mustard, American cheese and pickles & onions if I have em. And bacon as often as possible.

Lately I’ve been perfecting a new favorite that I call the Gyroburger. Lots of garlic & oregano, tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, lettuce, tomatoes & onions. Sometimes olives, but too many toppings makes it too messy. I guess to really be a Gyro, it should probably be a ground lamb patty, but whenever I try that it just tastes funky.

Another one I like to do is the Grilled Cheese burger. I cook the patty first, then I build it with cheese on top and bottom with the bun insides facing out, buttered and the thrown in the pan to make it like a grilled cheese with a burger in the middle.

What are some of your favorites?

On moon miranda.

Bacon, Onions (edit: any and all kinds, the more the merrier, white, green, red, rings, straws, etc), Avocado and Mayo or BBQ sauce, sometimes with a splash of Sriracha. Perfection. Also more Bacon.

That said, an actual gyro patty burger sounds awesome.

How is something on the inside of a foodstuff a 'topping'?

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

I think it also has to do with how some traditional burger places served burgers back in the day (and still do) with the burger being open faced, and all the toppings on the side so you could put what you wanted on the burger. At that point they are considered toppings until you put the top bun on

Oh, and my favorite burger is akin to the Texas Whopper at BK: Mayo on the bottom bun, ground pepper on the mayo, then the patty, then the cheese (American cheese generally) then jalapenos, then lettuce, tomato and mustard on the top bun.

Ooh.. another one I forgot.. the Pizza Burger.

Topped with mozzarella cheese and I also add some asiago or gorgonzola if I have it, for that extra zip & zing.. then some roasted garlic bits or at the very least a generous helping of garlic powder, tomato sauce and sometimes pepperoni slices. A little messy but quite tasty!

A while back I was planning to start a burger themed food truck and call it the Burger Bus. Was afraid I wouldn't make enough money with it though, everything seemed so expensive.

I only ever eat burgers at fast food chains. Though as a kid I had a burger at a proper restaurant once and it had bacon and caramelised onion (and loads of other stuff that I don't remember) and I really liked that. So I guess that is my favourite.
Some of the things in this thread sound really good though.

What the feth is caramelised onion? Caramel? On an onion?
Bacon and cheese for me btw, plain and simple. Don't even like ketchup. Maddening the amount of places that smear it on without asking.

Burgers are one of those foods you can put nearly anything on, and depending on your tastes it'll be good.

A local restaurant has a gorgonzola cheese and carmelized onion burger that is FANTASTIC.

While I adore toppings as much as the next guy, I do find that a quality...I mean a really good burger is often great with very minimal toppings.

My current burger crush is Freddy's...but there isn't one within 200 miles of me. (le sigh). Their basic double burger is super simple, but really friggin' hits the spot (great fries and ice cream doesn't hurt....and it's cheap)

I do think that's all that's in the burger...double patties, cheese, onions, pickles and mustard.

I maintain that Bugman's Bar at Warhammer World do some really good burgers there.

I'm not really that keen on sauce or greenery, so I'm all for bacon, cheese (herby cheddar is great, as is brie), garlic, and throw in some salami if I can. Honestly, meat and cheese makes my meal.

Best burger I had was in the Carolinas that was covered in some kind of home-made cole slaw that I've yet to be able to replicate.

Some element of barbecue sauce (of the sweet variety) was on there, too. Good stuff!

If the meat is good quality it I like just the patty with a little salt and pepper, no bun.

Average quality I still like a pretty simple plain & dry cheeseburger. Meat, cheese and bun (no mayo).

If the meat isn't that good then I like sauces and extra stuff. Chopped up onions and peppers incorporated into the burger patty I like more than on top. Grilled mushrooms can be good. I like some barbecue or teriyaki sauce, although those can easily make it too sweet.

I'm not a fan of ketchup, mustard or lettuce on my burger under any circumstances, although I will admit to an odd fondness for the horrifying mess that is the McDonald's cheeseburger. I try not to eat there though.

Wow, this changes per my mood. Sometimes the Hardee's Monster is my mainstay, sometimes the McDonald's Double Quarter, or the Wendy's Baconator, or the Big King or whatever one has the bacon on it. Sometimes I'm in a White Castles mood, or I'll be hankering for a Royale with cheese from Steak n' Shake.

I don't sit down burger that often, but Applebee's fits my bill there.

Not fried. Heated with sugar, salt and a bit of water until the sugar nearly turns to caramel.

It's called "caramelising" because the method of cooking the onions slightly burns the sugars in the onion, caramelising them (it basically sweetens the onion while also making them soft and less bitey). The burning of sugars is the "caramelising" it doesn't mean it's a desert.
