The instruction manual for the medics on the command squad seems like they are unarmed. Is that true? I wanted to know before I start making the command squad.

Connecticut

Buy the codex.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

I did, it just said I can equip them. I assume if it doesn't say replace lasgun it is armed correct? I just got into this hobby.

Yea you're reading it correctly, it just says "may take X item" so you just take it without replacing anything the model has.

Ah ok thank you for clearing that up. Does that mean can give them special weapons too? Does this apply to the vox caster as well?

With the way they structure does lists when it says "one other veteran may do X" it means one who hasn't taken an earlier option. It's all natural language writing so, just read them normally.

One veteran may take a voxcaster
One other veteran may take a medkit
Any other veteran may replace their etc.

So one guy can have a voxcaster, another can take a medkit, you can't take both a medkit and voxcaster on the same model and the rest of the squad can take special weapons.

Most people don't consider the vox or medkit worthwhile on their Command Squad btw, but follow your heart.

But wouldst it be necessary to relay orders for the the platoon commander? I take it the guardsmen die to quickly to have a medic be worth it?

Considering the cost and unreliability of the med kit you actually come out ahead by just spending the points on another guardsmen. Also voxes aren't required for orders to be issued, they provide a massive buff to the range orders can be issued at but the issue is (similar to the med kit) by the time you built your vox network you've spent enough points to just buy another officer who gives you extra orders to boot.
