Hi all,

I'm having a think about what units to include in my first 8th-edition army list, and I must say my eyes lit up when I saw the new profile for the supa-skorcha.

I generally prefer to run themed units in my lists, but I also aim to keep it competitive. I'm considering:

Big Trakk, Supa Skorcha, 2xSkorchas (135 + 28 + 17+17) = 197pts

and to ride in them:

5 Burnas, 1 Mek (unsure if this is 5 x 14 or 6 x 14, as meks have no points value... guessing 6 x 14) = 84pts, total 281pts
or
6 Nobs, Kombi-Skorchas (17x6 + 19x6) = 156pts, total 353pts

Now that kombi-weapons can (as far as I can see) fire every turn and not just once per game any more, this could be a terrifying unit for any infantry, and not exactly safe for vehicles either.

Version 1 kicks out 4D3 S6 AP-2 hits at range, and an additional 2D6 S5 AP-1 and 5D3 S4 hits up close.
Version 2 kicks out 4D3 S6 AP-2 hits and 12 S4 shots at range, and an additional 8D6 S5 AP-1 hits up close (the S4's hit on 6's in this case).

I don't know how this compares to new stuff in 8th but in 7th this would be a beast. Up close with the Nobz this puts out an average of 28 skorcha hits, 8 supa-skorcha hits and a token 2 shoota hits.

No doubt it'll explode shortly thereafter, but it'll be fun laying down all those hits! Don't know the math-hammer but I'd expect this to hurt most things.

Thoughts?

I've played around with this before. Personally, I ran all flamers. big skorcha + 2 skorchas. I found that you more than likely are not going to put yourself in range to use the 2 skorchas. Its more there to deter someone from getting with in 8" to try and assault you. I used mine to get some models around on the table and provide anti-infantry support to my units. The range on the supa skorcha is just stupid good and the fact that you can move and shoot it is awesome.

Another build you might be curious about is a big trak with big lobba and 2 skorchas. Basically an orky version of the pleague crawler.

I've run the flamer bik trakk quite a few times and I feel that it is the best use of the vehicle as it avoids orks crappy BS.

Things to note:
-you're correct the "mek" (actually now called a spanna or whatever) is the same points as a burna boy, he's just a sidegrade
-Burnas are pretty trash unfortunately. They're a lot of points for d3 hits. D6 would make them usable
-don't forget meks can't repair from inside a vehicle in 8th edition
-Skorcha nobs are great
-why not 5 skorcha nobs and a big mek with a KFF?
