If yes, what does it add to the game in terms of hazards and tactics?

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

No idea but its a repackaging of the deathworld forest terrain pack for £20 less, Plus you get a mat and the terrain cards answering your question.

terrain is terrain, you dont need specific GW models to have terrain of a certain function. If you like the terrain as terrain buy it, its a good deal, if you dont like the terrain dont bother.
In any event any atribution to Kill Team is situational, its generic fantasy jungle terrain. You can use if for 40K, AoS, Infinity whatever you want, and if it has sprcific help in Kill Team so be it.
However if you dont like the rules it is still terrain you can use in Kill Team or any other game where an alien jungle is appropriate terrain.

I have the orignal set, it cost me £45 on ebay and that was a good deal at the time. Now if is formally £50 and not mail order only it will be available for about £38 from usualy internet retailers.
It is not a priority to me but getting a second set is on my agenda. I already have one, and want to buy a second box, and that should tell you all you need to know about my opinions on it.
When you open the box be prepared to be surprised how big the pieces are. You can hide dreadnoughts behind the trees easily and one set will provide a full square foot of solid thick jungle terrain by area, and when spaced out a whole lot more, and more besides if you use the rules by which you get an effect by being within 3" of a piece. Two maybe three sets, with a clearing with prefab blocks and crates in the middle will make a pretty good jungle board for an Infinity game, and Infinity is played with a lot of terrain, and that only uses the items as trees for blocking terrain.

I haven't seen the rules and know already that one way or another you can play some great skirmish 40K under one name or another with this terrain set, its looks good and has presence on the tabletop and its clean without looking clea. You can move models around it, it disrupts the movement of formations, but doesn't disrupt the placement of models. In my mind they got it right with this kit. You can ignore the wacky rules for each plant and ruin I did. Trees can be just trees,

I might buy two more sets rather than one.....

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Of course it needs to be said that when Orlanth says "solid" he means "fully transparent". Yes, it's big, but obviously it's entirely see-through and won't hide a grot from LOS. GW seems uncharacteristically aware of this limitation as neither matched play scenario in the box relies on kills - one is about both teams trying to escape from the middle of the board and the other is about foraging for space fruit.

The environment table is full of debuffs up to and including the entire board being dangerous terrain.

Tactics are odd. For each of the three plant species, there is a card that turns it into dangerous terrain for a round for 0 CP*. I am not sure what sort of mind games GW wanted us to play with these. The rest of the tactics cards either use terrain for advantage in melee (additional -1 to hit when fighting through terrain, dealing mortal wounds by pushing people into terrain, adding poison to melee weapons) or negating the terrain's dangers.

It feels like the intention was the shift focus from tabletop model positioning to clever timing with cards activating or negating dangerous terrain in certain areas.

*as a nice touch, the exact terrain piece affected is pictured on the back of each card instead of the usual graphic, so there is no confusion about what's what

Thanks for the replies. The terrain specific tactics might be interesting. However, it can wait for now as Rogue Trader drops tomorrow, and I've been excited about that since the initial leak.

@Orlanth: About the price difference ... I noticed that too. The Kill Team oriented box is $20 than the original 40k box, and you get extra material. Okay, works for me.

Yes. It's amazing.

Played the mission "Fearless Foraging" and those plants did more mortal wounds than the psychic Thousand Sons I was playing against. It was hilarious!!

I've played ON the DW Killzone, but didn't use the environmental rules. Played the Rescue mission and had a good time with that. My Ork Kommandos vs Tau. I really enjoy missions where the Objectives are undetermined.

It's been a busy week, so I haven't assembled the terrain yet but the idea is to paint it up in a Nurgley Plague Garden theme.
