Hey everyone. I've been itching to jump back into the grim darkness of the 41st millennium but I feel like my marines collection is in need of updating. What should I buy? Budget isn't too much of an issue. I just want to make my army semi-competitive. Here's my collection.

Captain
5 Tactical Squads. Armed with melta guns, plasma and MM/ML in varying mixes.
2 Primaris Intercessor Squads. Five men each.
Scout Squad
Scout Sniper Squad
Assault Marine Squad
Two Vanguard Vet Squads
Three Drop Pods
Contemptor Dreadnought
Librarian
Terminator Captain
Tactical Terminator Squad
Assault Terminator Squad
2 Land Raider Phobos
Land Raider Crusader
Three Rhinos. I have 1 Assault Cannon (I can borrow another off the Crusader) and two lascannon mounts for Razorbacks.
Vindicator
Tri-Las Predator
Land Speeder
10 Bikes
Assault Bike
Ironclad Dreadnought
3 Venerable Dreadnoughts
Lieutenant

I was thinking of getting a second Tri-Las Predator, a Hellblaster Squad and a Primaris Captain and maaaybe a Stormraven gunship to round things off. I'm open to any suggestions even just "Buy some Imperial Guard".

I want to say Flamer Aggressors but they don't really benefit much from the Salamander trait, they just look cool as heck.

Salamanders CT promotes MSU builds. You’ve got plenty of tac marines, but might want to look at their wargear. Stormbolters cost peanuts and double the firepower, well worth tossing around. Power weapons are also a lot more affordable. Probably not worth it if you want to go ultra-copetitive, but for a more fluffy fun list, can be worth taking. Plus as every sarge is a free vet now, and your CT works per phase, Salamanders get a lot of milage out of them. Might want some LCs for a dev squad

Look to how you can incorporate stratagems into your list. The HB/ML ones can toss down some mortal wounds, which can be a game changer. Stick them in a Dev squad for a cherub doubleshot with +1 to hit from the sarge for more fun. Getting more preds/vindis for theirs could also work, but is a very heavy investment in points for something that only works if all of them are there. Not sure I’d build towards those.

How is your captain built? Even if not BA, having a thunderhammer out front cracking heads can work. But also a basic guy with a SB/powersword camping the backfield buffing the gunline is a valuable asset. The primearis one can work for that.

Even after nerfing, I think the raven is still decent. Hellblastes are nasty, and going to be a priority target, but can bring the pain.

You mention guard. Right now a lot of competitive builds take advantage of a cheep guard for for extra CPs and screening units. So even if you don’t want to go full mixed soup, they add a lot to the army.

Not much to add. You have a nice big collection there with lots of options.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't see a Librarian. Maybe you can add one to your collection. Also one Flyer likes the Stormhawk Interceptor for some anti-fly Dakka or an Stormraven for transport but you are plenty of LR.

On the primaris way I like a lot the Inceptors.

PD: one more option is adding some Astra Militarum for cheap CP likes Nevelon said

Yeah, hate to say it but a Battalion of Guard for the extra bodies/cp/cp generation/access to Auto Cannons is a very good use of 200-300 points. The only thing stopping me for picking that up myself is that I don't think I could resist expanding the Guard contingent until I wasn't playing Marines anymore.

Some solid advice here! I was actually thinking of running my Tacticals as 5 man squads with a Stormbolter on the Sergeant and a Plasma gunner riding in a assault cannon razorback

My Captain is fully magnetized. I'll definitely build some more weapon arms if the TH/SS combo works well for them.

So, ideally you want to stick a ML in a Lascannon dev squad? Alright, I got the models for that.

Looks like I'm going to build up some guard which I'm totally okay with. I love the Imperial Guard and I've been wanting to run some for awhile.

@Alex_85
I do own a Librarian. I've read they are pretty decent in 8e. I've been wanting to get a Stormhawk but I was never sure on how viable they are.
