I’m playing imperial Knights and ad mech right now and I’m trying to figure out how to round out my list. I’m looking at either 4 kastelans being deepstriked alongside a tpd and datasmith or 3 shield captains on dawn eagles. Whichever I pick will be responsible for anti horde duty. The kastelans would be better arguably but the captains are tougher and better at objectives

Either are strong options. The Kastelans would synergize better with what you all ready have if you pop canticles though. On the other hand, if you need to move, and move fast the jetbikes are the way to go (but they can't enter second floors).

I'd probably go the robots because they're less likely to get a nerf in chapter approved than the shield captains.

Agree, you risk having 3 shield captains with a whole CP to share with each other.

The robots also make conceptually more sense with your army.
Granted, it will be confusing if you have both Kastelans and Castellans in the same army...

Agree, you risk having 3 shield captains with a whole CP to share with each other.
They could also be hit like the tau commanders and be restricted to 1 per detachment. Or get a points increase that makes running 3 just not worth it. Of course this is all just speculation but the more a unit stands out the more likely it is to be nerfed.

Yeah robots make more sense because sadly a captain nerf could very well happen. Thanks guys!
Ps there is not castellans so there won’t be in any confusion haha
