I was looking the receipt you get when you buy from Kromlech, and it looks like I'm paying Polish taxes, at 23%!?

This seems kinda odd to me, anyone else who ordered from Kromlech able to chime in on this?

You try asking Kromlech?

I bought from them a few months ago and looking at the receipt there is no line for taxes. I would definitely recommend asking Kromlech.

May have been import duties.

23% sounds very unlike size of any import duty I am aware of and coincidentally is exactly what the VAT (sales) tax in Poland is.

I suspect they just slap it on all the orders, domestic and foreign, and hope people won't notice.

Well, HST (Sales Tax) in Ontario is 13%, and a 10% duty on imported "Toys, Collectibles, or Other Luxury Item" seems within the realms of reason to me.

But if sales tax in Poland is 23%, then it's possible the sales clerk forgot to check off the "non-taxable" box in their accounting software.

I've made that mistake myself, from time to time.

Ordering from them has a hefty tax/fee. I assumed it was the VAT

At work now, buf yeah it's on the receipt they gave me in the shipping box. 23% is the VAT huh? Well.. what the heck that's just not cool.

I wasn't charged VAT that I'm aware of the last time I ordered Kromlech. Did you buy via their site or their eBay store? If the basic website "includes" VAT then I guess I did, but I just paid exactly what the web price was in USD.

Did you get charged for shipping as well? I know a lot of UK retailers (not GW) still charge you the whole price including "VAT" but use those funds to provide "free" shipping.

In the UK (and probably elsewhere in the EU), listed prices will include VAT - none of this "$9.99 plus tax" stuff you see in the US. It's possible the website removes the VAT amount before converting the Euro price into US dollars; you'd need to check that yourself with the USD/EUR exchange rate.
