I'm revisiting my WIP Chaos forces after a long hiatus and the old plastic Chaos Space Marine kit just doesn't stack well in terms of size with the new Rubric/Plague Marines and even the redone tacticals from a few years back and don't get me started on seeing them next to Primaris. it seems the main issue is the squatting legs they all come with. I've seen people re-cut and extend the legs to give them added size but considering I have about 100 of them that seems like it would take forever. Has anyone come up with creative/easy ways to improve their stance when compared to newer power armored models?

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

There's a very simple and elegant solution that involves zero cutting. Simply get your existing CSM on his 25mm base and glue it on top of a 32mm one. Fill in with whatever basing material you use to blend them together and voila! Like so

I though about that but they still look out of place on such a high base to me. One option I saw was using Chaos terminator legs, but there's no reliable or cheap way to get those bits.

Trust me, when mixed in as a whole force they don't. They're all at relatively the same head height across the board.

First off, I get what you are saying about their size compared with Plague Marines. The OOP Plague Marines used to be slightly smaller than CSMs, now they are quite a bit larger. it's hard not to notice the difference.

Second, with rumors about the Black Legion getting some updates, are you sure this is something you want to change now? I'm sure any new releases for the range are going to have larger proportions. Given the amount of work involved, it might make more sense to simply get new models and work them into your forces over time.

Third - rebasing does wonders for height issues, I'm in the process of rebasing 100+ Black Legion marines myself. I did put them on a 32 mm bases affixed with about 2mm of Magic Sculpt. It adds significant height to the model, such that the crouched position accounts for the difference in proportions.

It also lets me focus on scenic bases for a while, which I love.

Sure the new SM legs? I used Deathwatch legs for my Warp Talons, for example.

You could use the primaris bodies and add parts from chaos marine boxes. The arms aren't that much larger than that of the space marines, so it won't look too out of proportion.
