Does anyone else think that the fight and shooting phases happen in the wrong order? Presumably they thought about it and did it this way to boost the effectiveness of close combat, but I think it pushes that way too far. It seems like every battle report I've seen has more casualties from hand to hand than ranged fire.

Am I missing something here? Because you're prohibited from firing into close combat anyway the RAW make it trivial to charge into combat, kill the opponent and retreat without ever being exposed to ranged fire at all. If shooting happened after fight you'd at least have one round of ranged fire against enemies who killed their opponent in close combat (and didn't have another close enough to pile in to). You often don't get to use your pistols anyway, but if that was a consideration you could simply allow pistol use in the turn you charged and/or were charged with the same outcome as the current system.

Consistency. 99% of games with a fixed action order are move>shoot>melee with special phases as desired. If a game doesn’t follow a set order of actions its you get X actions per model that can be spent on one of the above in any order and can be duplicated up to X times.

Also that’s the order 40K uses and despite everything Kill Team is at its heart still 40K with one squad each.

I expect they wanted CC to be more important in KT, then it has been in 40k.

Also, If I charge, and kill your dude, you just smoke me with return fire, if we move, fight, shoot. [Soooo many commas.] It becomes 8th edition where whomever can screen the bestest wins. Seriously, you can have something like 8 Plasmaguns in an AM Kill Team.

*shrug* It's refreshing, as a mainly AM player, to see close combat mean something in a battle.

Charge-Counter-Charge is a thing. I don't know, I've only played a couple of games. CC seems important but not the only thing.
