Hello all.

As per the title, I've been out of the loop for a loooong time. I fell away from the hobby a few weeks after Dark Vengeance released, and even sold my 4000pt Mechanised Imperial Guard force, and 5000pt Ork horde to some friends.

Recently I rediscovered Dakka, and my love for 40k was reignited. But I don't have the time, the money or the room for a full size army. So it's a good thing that my third favourite thing about 40k (behind orks and the IG) is the Inquisition. Hot dang do I love the Inquisition. I've always loved reading people's Inq28 blogs and I decided it was about time to do my own. Now, progress here is going to be very slow, and I'm also very, very out of practice and I probably shouldn't have ended a six year hiatus with chopping things up. One day I may even pick up a paint brush, but with my shaky hands and bad back I may just have the missus paint them!

***DISCLAIMER***
Unless stated otherwise, please assume everything posted is very much a rough work in progress. I will specify when I think that something is "done".

So without further ado, the beginnings of my warband, and the results of the last six hours.

Trooper Kitsaro

Scion bodyguard with an autorifle. Sturdy, dependable, and easy to clean. The gun is pretty okay too.

Trooper Petros

Scion bodyguard with a long-las. Why get your hands dirty when you can remove the problem from half a mile away?

Bounty Hunter Estrith

Mercenary with matched laspistols and a serious attitude. Never one to turn down a fight, and quite often the one to start them.

Looks good so far. I would strongly recommend repositioning the bounty hunter's hair braid so it follows her movement, though.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

Thanks for the kind words so far.

I'm going to bust out the hot water and get the braid bent either tonight or tomorrow.

Hopefully I have some goodies arriving in the post in the next few days too.

Also, does anyone UK based have any recommendations for superglue? I can't seem to get gorilla glue to work on the old pewter models, and I don't know if it's the pewter, or the new Necromunda bases.

Hi all, apologies for the lack of updates, I've been absolutely swamped with work.

I managed to get the braid on the bounty hunter bent to follow her movement a bit. I only bent it so far, I was terrified of snapping such a thin piece of plastic! That, and I didn't want to burn myself on either the hair drier or the mug of boiling water.

I've also had some goodies arrive in the post, so I should hopefully have some pictures to upload this evening or tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing more updates! I like the long lasgun and I'm looking forward to seeing the reshaped braid.
Sometimes the pewter models need a wash in soapy water to remove mold release like you would with resin. After that a quick file of the gluing surface helps the pieces stick together. I'm using UHU super power glue, seems to work fine!

I'll give that a go, thanks.

I couldn't get the braid bent as much as I would have liked, I was so close to snapping it despite my best efforts. That, and I kept burning my fingertips!

I'm off of work later during the week, so hopefully I can raid my FLGS for some new odds and ends and fill out the retinue some more.

I've found Gorilla superglue to work excellently, so I agree with TH that the problem is most likely to be unwashed mould release agent.

I think cutting and regluing the braid (with a pin if necessary) would have been easier than trying to soften and bend it.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

I'm back! Instead of trying to sleep during the day before my impending night shift, I decided to instead spend it gluing plastic soldiers together and eating a gigantic duty-free Toblerone.

I'm still flummoxed as to why the gorilla glue isn't working even after giving things a scrub in warm soapy water, so I will try again tomorrow with a different super glue. Also, when I returned to my miniatures this morning, I noticed that Trooper Kitsaro's antennae had mysteriously gone missing! There must be an agent of Chaos laying low in my flat somewhere, so I decided to neaten up where the antennae had been and get rid of everyone else's so that they matched. In the meantime; updates!

Trooper Kitsaro got his gun cleaned up a teeny bit, and as many grenades as he could get his grubby mitts on. He's truly armed to the teeth now. Trooper Petros also got a grenade or two, but not enough to warrant a new picture.

Bounty Hunter Estrith had her hair bent ever so slightly. It still isn't perfect, but it at least is moving in the same direction now.

And now some new recruits!

Trooper Weisz

Resident assault specialist. Sometimes you really need something to die. For those times, you use a shotgun.

Bounty Hunter Estrid

If it gets through her sister's lasbolts, it won't make it past Estrid's eviscerator.

More updates!

Trooper Petros got some new cables after I found some guitar strings I forgot I had.

Cherubim Arael joins the party. Carries around the Inquisitor's "business" gun when he isn't using it.

And finally the big man himself. Inquisitor Acastus Proxsimus of the Ordo Hereticus. I'm aware that the bionic left eye is pretty big, but I like it. All the better to spot witches with.

Man, duty-free toblerones are one of the best things about airports!
Inquisitor is looking good and I'm liking the large bionic eye, maybe a bit of back story would explain it?
The guitar strings look really neat on your trooper, the string is a good scale for these guys.

Every time the mother in law goes abroad, I get a boat load of toblerones. Which is fortunately a few times a year!

I'm going to work on fluff for the characters in the next few days. I'm on another night shift tonight, so I'll try to get some stuff written out if I get downtime.

I was trying to bend paper clips around for the wires in Proxsimus' head, and then decided to rummage through my guitar bags on the off chance I had spare strings. Turns out I had a whole set! They're a set of fender super bullets in a ten gauge, and the string I used in particular was a D string. Still nicely thin, but it's a coiled string rather than a straight string.

*EDIT*

I've also just realised that I have slight miscasting issues on the book on Proxsimus' chest, but it does also look like some pages have been torn. I'll certainly be working that in to the fluff.

Hi all,

No new images or any models currently in the works. I'll be headed to my FLGS to pick up some bits tomorrow, and I'm waiting for some bits to arrive in the post.

In the meantime, I bring you some lovingly prepared fluff for Estrid and Estrith, written on my phone whilst waiting for a night shift to end.

Spoiler:
------

Estrith threw herself hard against the wreckage of a burnt out dozer, bullets thudding into the engine block. She grimaced as pain washed over her from the twisted metal digging into the flesh of her shoulder. She gritted her teeth and shook the pain away, waiting for a lull in the oncoming fire as bullets and lasbolts streaked past her.

Is it really worth all this for a storage bay?” she thought to herself. “Whatever they’ve got here must be pretty good to give up this many men for”. She thought about her own losses for a moment; she was probably the only Viper left of the nine that started the raid. She thought for a moment about making a break for it, about cutting her losses and making for the nearest door, but Vipers never skip from a fight. Gangers fight hard, Vipers fight harder.

She stole a peek over the engine block as the gunfire suddenly ceased and she heard bellowing from down the bay. A ganger walked towards her, his arms oustretched and booming in a harsh voice that did not seem his own. His bare arms and torso were covered in old ritual scars, and a great eight-pointed star had been carved fresh into his pectorals. He strode towards her, trailing blood in his wake. Another ganger leapt from cover and ran past him, and his autogun started going wild in his hands. Estrith ducked away again, and took a deep breath. She stood from the cover and squeezed her triggers, pistols barking as lasbolts flew down the hall. She watched as the gunner dropped dead as his left eye exploded. The other was knocked backward a half step as lasbolts blew smoking craters into his shoulders, but he kept on coming, a terrible grin emerging on his face.

What the feth kind of chems is this guy on?

Suddenly his eyes and the wounds on his chest began to glow a bright green, and he vomited a stream of emerald flame towards her. Estrith ducked back behind cover just in time as flames roared either side of the engine block, and flecks of molten metal began burning her face and shoulders. She quickly wiped the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, but it was replaced instantly from the intense heat. She readied herself to break from cover, to give it one last shot before she met her end.

Once more she stood from the cover of the engine block, pistols booming in her hands before she could even see her target, screaming at the top of her lungs. As she turned, a hand wrapped itself around her throat and cut her screams short. She stared into the eyes of the ganger as his grip tightened, and she saw nothing but hate. The muscles in his forearm bulged and Estrith felt her feet coming away from the floor. She dropped her pistols and began clawing at his fingers. She could feel herself slipping away, growing weak as she got light headed. Her nails dug deep into the flesh of his thumb, blood dribbling from either side of her fingers, but if he felt any pain he did not show it. The ganger’s eyes began to glow green once more, and she slipped into an inky blackness as she lost consciousness.

Estrith suddenly gasped for air, and precious oxygen flooded her lungs. As her eyes opened she saw the bay floor, and blood. More blood than she had ever seen before. As her senses returned she could hear screaming, and the roaring of an engine. She looked up and saw the ganger, hand still outstretched towards her, and a chainblade erupting from his chest. Gore and bone spattered from his chest, and the chainblade kicked and bucked, before carving its way down through him and exploding out of his pelvis.

The ganger’s eyes went dull, and his organs spilled out from his abdomen. He dropped to his floor with a wet thud and was replaced by Estrid, still screaming as she drew her laspistol and fired six bolts quickly into the back of the ganger’s head. Estrid’s weapons clattered to the floor and she embraced Estrith and began bawling at the near loss of her dearest sister, as the rival gangers fled after the loss of their apparent leader.

------

Estrith awoke suddenly to a great clanging in her hab-chamber. Estrid leapt from her bunk and made for her chainblade as Estrith grabbed a pistol and made for the door. Estrith shouldered into the wall hard, still aching from the fight a few days prior. She stole a glance through the spy hole and saw a visored face. “Who the feth is this?” she thought to herself, “Too geared up for an arbite”.

She opened the door, pistols raised and ready. As the door opened she was stopped short as a rifle butt slammed into her nose, shattering the cartilage and sending her sprawling. A second figure stepped into their hab-chamber and raised his shotgun at Estrid, who was still tightening the leather straps on her chainblade. She went for her laspistol, but stopped when she saw the laser-sight of a longlas trained on her sister’s head from down the hall.

Lower your weapons, all of you. That includes you Weisz. We’re not here to shoot these people. We're not savages.

A figure stepped into the room, dressed in ornate plated armour, his footsteps joined by a skull-capped walking cane clanging against the plasteel floor. A myriad of cables embedded deep into the pale flesh of his skull led to a huge cybernetic eye glowing a cold green against the fluorescent lights of the hab-chamber; while a small servo-skull floated behind, chittering away in his ear as it billowed foul smelling smoke from a dangling censer. A tattered and torn book bolted to his chest plate fluttered as the torn pages caught the breeze of the filter unit. She saw an intricate, baroque "I" standing alone on one of the pages, and the letter filled her with dread for reasons she did not understand. The figure walked towards Estrith and offered out a gauntleted hand. She tentatively took his hand and he pulled Estrith to her feet with a groan. A hulking grey figure appeared in the doorway of the hab-chamber, a mountain of muscle and cybernetics chomping at a ceramite bit between his teeth. The combat servitor lurched forward and pistons in its arm began hissing as a pneumatic saw on its fist slowly came to life, and a pilot light on the other fist flickered excitedly.

Stop it Lug, I was picking her up. Don’t be so foolish” said the armoured figure. The servitor groaned and the pistons ground to a halt. “My sincerest apologies citizen, please forgive the rudeness of my associates. Now, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Acastus Proxsimus of the Ordo Hereticus, and I have an offer for the pair of you.

Another member of the gang! Still a work in progress at the moment. The putty on his shoulders needs cleaning up, and he needs some putty around his neck too. I may also add a load more cables going into his head to fill out the gap rather than adding putty.

Meet Lug. Tons of fun, loves long walks on the beach, bedtime stories and the smell of burning witches.

Can never go wrong with a few more cables! It's really cool to see you match a model to the background you've written.

Thanks!

I'm going to try to get hold of some more strings in the next few days, and hopefully I get a chance to sit down and get some more background written.
