I know this has been asked before. but I still can't find a definitive answer or find a FAQ

Can the riptide use the Nova Reactor Boost effect to move and charge in the charge phase?

If the model can move in your charge phase (even if it doesn't declare a charge), it would seem that 2d6 + an optional charge is allowed.

I think you are correct.

Honestly I think it's a quite poorly worded rule. It doesn't give you any details on when exactly in the phase it can move. Like can you move it, charge with other units, then return to the Riptide and charge with it? I think you can actually, because it doesn't say you have to move it at the point it is chosen in the charge phase.

The note in parentheses saying 'even' implies that perhaps this wasn't intended, but as that's not totally clear and they didn't explicitly give any restrictions then I think the only way you can read it is that you can do both.

You are correct, it can Nova-charge, and then declare a charge, due to "sloppy writing", or maybe it's intended. Given the bareness of 'logic' that entails 8th edition we will never know.
