Looking good. This has me excited for Transformer movies again.

After the last few piles of steaming celluloid poop that Bay inflicted on the world, my personal bar for Transformers movies is incredibly low. But this does look pretty decent. Fingers crossed it lives up to that expectation and Hasbro/Paramount use this as a chance to reboot the series while keeping Bays involvement to a minimum.

Haven't watched any Transformers movies since the one with the two "who the feth greenlit this?" stereotype characters from the one movie where they were fighting around the pyramids.

This one looks decent, and I like how non-busy the transformers look in this one. The brief shots of Optimus look like they're lifted straight from the cartoon/orginal toys, but still obviously advanced.

I would really love for this to be good - and I admit I swooned a bit seeing the other "classic" proper Transformers in this trailer. I'd love for it to be genuinely good and not the Michael Bay garbage we've been subject to. Hell just seeing a Transformer which doesn't have 72,000 extraneous spinning/clattering/whirring useless CGI bits is a nice start...

Agreed, Elbows. It'll be worth admission for the Battle for Cybertron alone.

@neis1031 I'd say to give Last Knight a try. The basic plot is pants on the head crazy, but the delivery is pretty enjoyable, and the action is much easier to follow than the first two. They also stopped trying to make the Decepticons look like horror movie monsters. A little perplexing dialogue, but for the most part it remembers its a kid movie. It's on Amazon Prime for free right now.

Precisely. Even if the movie is typical popcorn munching modern action....just the screens alone make it 10x better than any of the previous Transformers "attempts".

Even if these shots NAIL what we all thought the TF movies SHOULD have looked like, they're still sticking with the Bayverse Bee style as well as some mid point Earth Decepticons. I'm not exactly hopeful, I was really wishing they'd have waited a year and just did a clean break. Rip the Band-Aid off and start with the new look.

What is with the obsession of trying to make Bumblebee into some kind of walking Herby? Also can't they just fix his darn voice.

Also haven't they done the "found a transformer in a junkyard" storyline at least twice already in this series of films?

*self admitted jaded bay-transformer-hater**

*and let me be clear if he'd just used a generic "giant transforming robots" approach I'd be somewhat less jaded, but still consider the basic plots of most of his films an utter mess .

Until that video, I never really considered that lack of depth perception must suck pretty bad for a dedicated weapons platform.

1 - It does look nice. An actual melding of the Bayformers aesthetic with recognizable transformers. Bumblebee and Blitzwing are the best examples thereof, while the other two triple-changers we see are more distinctly Bayformers and Cybertron action looks more like G1 (or, IMO, more like the IDW comics)

2 - The fact that they're doing that now shows they're pretty desperate to win back the crowd.

3 - As always. The Grand Unified Theory of Sequels Always Sucking still applies. Going in skeptical.

If you're British it's even worse. The "relaxed" attitude to geography is mind boggling, but my particular irritant was when they were supposedly driving a McClaren through London. I’m with Vak on this one. An entire film or even a miniseries depicting the War for Cybertron would be the only thing that could get me back into these movies. The last four have been utterly lacking in coherence and somehow each manages to be even more incoherent than the last. Even if Bumblebee breaks that trend without resounding praise I probably won’t waste my time. The Last Knight was so bad I couldn’t even laugh at how bad it was. It managed to surpass so bad it’s good and just went to so bad it’s worse.

What if I told you this already existed?

In the form of two video games who's publishers have delisted and tried to bury?

This looks decent enough.

As for the games, I really liked War for and Fall of Cybertron. Heck I even liked the versus Multiplayer in Fall of Cybertron, playing as the flying bots was great fun.

The first one I think was much better than it ever got credit for. The second one was okay I guess.

I don't think that's possible. If I remember correctly at some point a few years ago (once the MCU just kept printing money) somebody on that team pushed the idea that the Bay-TF-universe also needs to become a full cinematic universe. I think Bumblebee is the result of that (and there'll probably be more spin offs, prequels, sequels, and side stories so they can wring out a movie per year), and they'll keep making movies as long as the stuff sells.

They'll keep going till the films no longer generate income; then they'll look back and either decide to let it die or revitalise it with a reboot. Considering that Transformers is likely bundled in with comicbook hero films the fate of Transformers might rest on what the DC/Marvel scene is like when the Bay films run out of profit.

If superhero films are doing well they might well reboot; if they are doing poorly they might scrap it for whatever is the new flavour of the future.

The big issue is that even a reboot might not give many long term fans what they want. Instead it might just result in them repeating the Bay franchise timeline; building off that and rebooting that.

What it really needs is a strong director who has a strong love or respect of the source material and the gumption and desire to make a transformers film that is faithful to the actual source material. That's hard, because you can probably count the number of directors who could do that on one hand, maybe two. To my thinking Del Toro or Tarantino would be two who could do it justice and respect the source material whilst having enough influence to push their vision through the producers; though I've no idea if either of them has a love of the transformers.

Another aspect is that they might want to make the Transformers world like the Marvel and DC films - ergo lot of spinoffs. Already we are seeing that with a Bumblebee film.

Exalt, Overread.

I would absolutely love for Tarantino to do 'Last Stand of the Wreckers'. 1 measley human, robots galore and as nihilistic an ending as he could want.

The transformers themselves look so good in this. It actually looks less like an actual trailer 2 and more like some enterprising 3d modeler/animator fans made a fan trailer out of the original teaser.

Now to just stop focusing the story on the humans and instead on the actual transformers and were all good.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Delisted? Explain.

Hasbro has had a MAJOR issue with any sort of brand unification. They've been doing the DC thing where whatever is the most popular celluloid version at the time becomes the focus. Hasbro has been running the Generations line almost continuously since 2006, barring some breaks and including Classics and Universe 2.0 in with Generations. The only time there was any sort of stop was when the Movie stuff came out, and pretty much tied up all shelf space. The Comics were forced to take on aspects of the Movieverse, and when they tried to make an Aligned Continuity, it sucked in aspects of the franchise that didn't go together and based it off one solid base. That base, of course, was the Transformers Prime show, which itself was basically Bayverse animated.

If this is a brand unification, then I sincerely hope they lean more towards the Generations/G1 aspect than the previous Movie aspect.

By delisted he means that the contract for the IP came to an end and the developers were forced to pull both games from retail release. So they are gone from steam totally. OF course if there are retail physical copies out there the activation codes will still work (long as they are not registered to another user); and if you bought them on steam already you can still download and play. There's just no page or means to buy them in steam again.

It's a deathtrap for things like movie-tie-in games and also often hits sports and racing games as well. Just like how the Battle for Middle Earth games are not sold new anywhere and yet if you can get a retail copy you can still play.
