Howdy all! Working on my first AoS army, giving Sylvaneth a shot. So, I won't be too familiar with the sweet spots for building armies, how many bodies ought to be on the table for different point levels...

Thankfully, my local community is quite casual when it comes to playing the game. Good place to learn. I'm looking to build a list that isn't a wet noodle, basically. What I have so far;

Tree Lord Ancient [300]
Branchwych [80]

3 Kurnoth Hunters with Greatbows [200]
3 Kurnoth Hunters (Unbuilt yet, undecided on weapons) [200]
10 Dryads [100 pts]
10 Dryads [100 pts]

A bit shy of 1,000 points, what most of my group plays at for beginners. I do however, have another Treelord kit, magnetized like the one in the list, 10 -Revenants unbuilt, a Branchwraith and another ten Dryads available, or to be summoned with a Branchwraith.

Is this a legal list? Also, I would appreciate suggestions to replace units, staying around 1,000 points for now. And, suggestions on General, their trait, and relics. I've been looking at a Reaping/Silver Circlet combo, is it reasonable to use it in a small game?

Thanks!

I have recently gotten in Sylvaneth aswell.. and my local group has started a AoS campaign.. starting off at 750.. so far I have 4 games played and 4 wins..
My list is
Tree-Lord Ancient
General Trait - Gnarled Warrior
Artefact - The Oaken Armour
with Regrowth

2x10 Dryads

Kurnoth Hunters w/ Swords
but now that I think about I think i should take the Scythes

for the extra 50 points I should take an endless spell but im not sure which one besides the cogs but unfortunately they cost 60 points.
So basically for this list.. The Tree-lord Ancient is SUPER durable with a 2+ armour save reolling 1s with his command trait and ignoring -1 rends with the general trait.
And with regrowth your Kurnoth Hunters are more survivable unless your opponent just wipes them out... So far the most damage my Tree-Lord Ancient has taken was 2 damage but just healed it back with regrowth.

Hopes this helps.

Thanks for the tips on the general trait and artefact! The Reaping + Silver Circlet idea came from my bit of research in to good combos. Letting you get off so many mortal wounds, with a 9" radius seemed strong. But I agree, that much durability at low point values seem strong.

I remember reading somewheres, that Kurnoth Swords vs Scythes is all a matter of armor saves. Scythe is superior if you're up against a 2+ armor save, while Sword and Scythe tie for damage dealing at 3+ armor. Against a 4+ armor save, the Swords will dish out more damage, because of it's reliable damage stat and more attacks.

Thanks.
