I specifically mean the boxes that are just terrain and the game mat. I'm interested in expanding my terrain collection for games (as currently I can BARELY fill a 6x4, and that's mixing AoS with 40k terrain). If I do pick one up, which is just flat the best value? Im also taking terrain size into account on this.

Although, if anyone knows of a GW box that has even more terrain per dollar, i'd love to know about it!

Warzone Sector Mechanicus is relatively solid imo though the sector imperialist is probably the best utility for 8th Ed.

If you want my advice though in terms of bang for your buck it's tough to beat some of the top quality MDF terrain - as someone who works for a game club and has painted ~10 tables worth of terrain I would recommend death Ray designs. Their imperial bunker terrain looks KILLER with gray over black zenith highlight then a drybrush of white. I have never seen a company do what they do with MDF wood.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Yeah, those are incredibly good deals. I would pick Sector Munitorum. Containers, if painted nicely, look damn good. Plus, they perfectly block LOS.
For 65 euros you are getting 112.5 euros worth of terrain elements.

How large is the Xenos deathworld terrain? It looks deceptively small, compared to the mechanicus and munitorum.

This is the contents of the box plus three containers and the scenery from the death watch team box. It's actually one of the more full ones.

I calculated the cost of the space marine box, and you basicly pay an extra 15 bucks for the terrain, seems worth it.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

The mechanicus terrain is great and super modular. I’d buy another killzone box of it if it wasn’t out of stock everywhere.

The mechanicus and the new ruins were the most fun because you really can build your own thing (basically 40K lego). The others were very boring in comparison.

The Munitorum box is great value. Six containers, a pile of boxes and barrels and a set of cranes/tractors. That's 3-4 good sized pieces of terrain right there, or 6-8 smaller ones.

The Sector Mechanicus is also great - one large terrain piece and you can make 2-3 decent terrain pieces from the pipes and stacks.

The only better terrain value is found in Renegade, where the Galvanic Magnavent is basically included for free on top of 2 underpriced Imperial Knights. That and the Kill Team box set itself.

Edit: I'd avoid the death world box simply because it's not good terrain. No LOS blocking, no elevated positioning of models, and it looks terribly easy to knock over during gameplay.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I ended up going in a totally different direction, and picked up the Sigmarite Mausoleum (the double garden of moor) at 20% off at my FLGS. TONS of good cover walls, some decent LoS blocking buildings, and they just look gorgeous on the board.

One of the big changes that makes all of it worth it is that terrain, even generic with no special rules, has a much bigger impact on the game compared to normal 40K. This adds value on top of the savings.

I just bought two of the Munitorum one, save about $100 on the contents. I'll buy a couple more even though I don't really need anymore cranes because your still saving and I can always sell off the excess cranes
