Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked/answered before or if it's stupidly obvious and I've misunderstood things but...
From a recent in game situation... in 8th ed 40k if I'm shooting a unit with multiple weapon types at a unit the brb seems to imply that you complete each weapon type separately, so if my bolters in my tac squad kill off part of a unit leaving the rest of unit out of sight of my missile launcher, does this mean the launcher doesn't get to fire at the unit?
Similarly does this apply in h2h? If my opponent rolls the boyz from a mob of orks and I remove casualties from around the pk Nob will that mean the nob is unable to make his attacks?

You check range and LOS only once, when declaring targets. After that it doesn't matter if casualties take the "remainder" of the unit out of range and LOS, you still get to shoot. Likewise, for Fighting, you declare where all the attacks are going to go before making any attacks, and the attacks will happen even if casualties take the unit "out of range".

Bacon answered you. One more thing, no stupid question here. If you have doubts and don't find it searching around, then just ask.

Q: If one of my units shoots an enemy unit in which only one
model is visible, and I resolve the attacks one at a time, slaying
that model before I have resolved all of my unit’s attacks, what
happens to the rest of the attacks – are they wasted?

A: No. You determine the number of attacks the firing
unit will make against the target unit before any of those
attacks are made (i.e. before any hit rolls are made). If
you are resolving these attacks one at a time and your
opponent removes the only visible model as a casualty,
you still continue to resolve the remainder of the firing
unit’s attacks against that target.

The same is true of close combat; you target a unit as a whole, determine how many attacks you are making against it, and carry out all those attacks until either you run out of attacks, or the unit runs out of models/wounds.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
