Subject: G'day all. Ork player looking for advice on second army

Hi guys,
I'm someone thats drifted in and out of the hobby for 15~ years. I've got a fairly rag tag 1500~ of Orks:
Ghazgull
Mek
20 Shoota boyz
18 slugga choppa boyz
14 Gretchin+1 runtherd
5 Burna boyz (2 meks w/rokkits)
8 Nobz (3 w pk)
8 Stormboyz (1 nob w/pl)
5 warbikes
2 Killa Kans
1 deff dread
1 converted leman russ (generally used as battle wagon with killkannon).
As you can see there's no real rhyme or reason to the list, its a combination of what i liked the look of, what was in the local shop 15 years ago and what's popped up cheap on ebay!
I'm looking to start a second army that has fewer models to paint for my son. He's only 2 but I can take a loooong time to get an army painted. Probably looking for something less model heavy than Orks. I've painted a fire warrior team and 8 tau drones, but I don't think they're quite the right fit. If I were starting from scratch for myself I'd probably go thousand sons/CSM, but all those cultists seem like a bit of a pain!
So basically any advice on an easy to paint, low model count list of 1000-1500 would be greatly appreciated, who knows another 7 years and the young fella might want to jump on the Orks and I'll take the other lot (saying I'm doing it for the boy is great excuse to the wife for buying myself stuff too!). Looking forward to being active on the forum

Hi! You might look at Custodes, Imperial Knights or Necrons.

Necrons are arguable the easiest army to paint. Since they are not strong in the META right now you could probably pick up a decent amount for a fair price.
Low model count I would look to Knights, Custodes, and certain Space Marine builds.

Grey Knights and Deathwatch are another two low model count armies. GK aren’t very good at the moment, by all accounts, but DW are and also have all sorts of mixed squads with different weapons and model types, so quite nice for having variety and creativity. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, black and silver, so easy to paint!
