Ha! Definitely!
The Boys is a bit overwrought and too cynical and clever for its own good much of the time - no way is it surviving its contact with the world at large (or at least larger than the world of a satirical comic book audience) intact.
Especially as it was designed to 'out Preacher Preacher'.
But who knows? In the current/growing anti-comic book movie climate, this might be a surprise sleeper/critical darling?
I suspect they won't really like what 'superheroes' are up to, in general and behind closed doors though, and a LOT of that will get toned down - or kept behind closed doors. Literally.
I can't see this one lasting long enough to get the whole series filmed to its conclusion.
maybe, but the Super-genre is long overdue a slap or two, and the premise of Supers that don't do anything Super and purely exist to flog product really is low hanging fruit these days
plus Frenchie will undoubtedly upset the French so trees beans

I recently read the first 3 volumes or collections or whatever. LOVED them. LOVE most of what Garth does. But I have low hopes for this. I couldn’t get through the Preacher show, tried twice and stopped caring almost immediately.

I only discovered that this was finally greenlit yesterday, having been waiting years with my fingers crossed, and then all of a sudden I discover that I only have to wait a month and a bit, Karl Urban is Billy, and that there are several trailers and it doesn't, so far, look like the mess that Preacher was.

It's Garth Ennis spending five years telling us he hates superheroes.
More specifically, all the superheroes are corporate stooges (they have to be; the chemical which gives them the powers costs " nineteen billion a pop") with good PR and absolutely no morality; you can see in that trailer the "collateral damage" caused by the Flash-analogue running through Hugh's girlfriend. The Boys are a group of ... well, thugs and murderers nominally on the CIA payroll who watch and fight the "heroes" when they go too far. The comic is about corporate and political corruption and responsibility and the abuse of power by the elite, dressed up in some frankly astonishing violence.
I'm slightly disappointed that Hugh isn't Scottish, and Karl Urban's accent slips occasionally, but it looks pretty decent from here.
With an extra dose of 'if an arms company owned a group of functionally invulnerable, and untrained, superhuman weapons, how far would they go to cover up their inevitable excesses and catastrophic errors?'.

Firstly because the company that controls the supers has massive influence with the US government, and secondly because The Boys themselves (including The Female; that's her name) have super strength and endurance due to getting does up ion the dame drug as makes the supers. the CIA can't afford to make any more, and are under orders to leave the "heroes" alone.
The Boys are the rogue, off-the-books black unit operating against the wishes of the legitimate government; except here, they're the "good" guys.
Finished. Enjoyed it a lot initially, less so as it approached the end and became clear they were doing another Preacher.
I've no issues with any of the general plot changes, but I'm not keen on the huge ones that radically alter the narrative and exclusively exist so they can have an open ended show.
Just set out to tell a good story for goodness sake. It doesn't need to be strung out so that it's unfinished when it inevitably gets cancelled.
I enjoyed it. Never got into the source material, as I don’t recall reading a comic since Azrael became Batman for a short bit, so I can’t speak on how faithful it is. It didn’t feel overlong or plodding at any point (like all of the Marvel Netflix series imo) and I was in it fully, from start to finish. I’m almost Super Hero’d out and I didn’t go in expecting to like it nearly as much as I did. It actually made me want to read the comics, something that no superhero flick/show has made me want to do.

I’ll bet $3.50 of cold hard cash(US) to the first person to take the bet that Butchers wife at the end is the Doppleganger/shapeshifter guy that appeared a few times during the series. I think Homelander is trying to feth with him to find out how much dirt he truly has. That would be the only reason to save him from the explosion, imo. Unless I missed something?

I think it more has to do with Homelander playing a game with him. I think all this so far is true. That kid looked about 8(Well what Hollywood calls 8) and does have glowing eyes. Because billy cant stop him, he has to play along. Homelander is a clear sociopath.
My guess is Vought doesnt want it to get out that superheroes can breed, they want a tight control on making superheroes, its clear the parents are involved, so vought can guarantee that the parents would push them to a superhero team.
Now, I bet doppelganger is among the cast somehow, my best guess would be Kimiko.
