One of my game development projects is coming to an end which is going to leave me with some spare time, and something I've wanted to do for a while now is write a small series of Choose your Path gamebooks in the style of the old Lone Wolf or Ian Livingstone books from the 80s that I grew up on.
I have a brief outline on what I think may be a good idea. It involves being a free person from the perspective of a "normal" which we can relate to better.
Book uses a d10 and up to 2d6. You have a combat skill stat which starts at 3 (out of 10, ala the old system), 15 health, and you get to choose five skills from a pool of ten which can give you advantages during the game and effect choices.
Combat involves rolling initiative for you and your opponent with the d10. Then you take it in turns striking. There is a chart that shows what you need to hit on the d10 based on your CS vs opponent's CS. Damage uses the d6 system and is reduced by what armor is being worn.
Want to make sure that there are pros and cons to each of the three tiers of armor (light medium heavy).
Story series spans five total books and starts out in Aqshy. Freely downloadable text. I'm even considering doing a game app for it with voice overs (freely downloadable).
What other story arcs would you find interesting? What other races would be interesting to play as?
Ideas ideas.
