Im running a 2500 point army of Khorne against my friends DG. He hasnt had much success against me so I want to build my list with a funny handicap. Give me some ideas!

Field units only in multiples of 8. Either in model count or unit costs. Ideally both.

Only use metal miniatures.
Only use models buy a single sculptor.
No infantry.
All infantry must have a troop transport.
Terminators only.
No heavy weapons.
No upgrades - just basic equipment.
Meat Grinder - you must wipe him out completely. A single survivor and he wins. Reguardless of other scenario conditions.
You have no command points - but still must be Battle Forged.
He gets Endless Tide for his troops.

Thanks for the input! Ive decided how imma do this. One of my other buddies constantly goes on about my armies being OP (Tzeentch/Khorne Daemons and tsons/WE.)
Soooo to prove that im not just winning via cheese, im putting the following stipulations on myself.
1. Only basic Chaos Marines for my troop slot. No Bloodletters, Zerkers, Cultists or otherwise.
2. No Psykers, or Daemon Princes.
3. I must run a Brigade.
4. No FW.
Wish me luck!

Whoa there buddy : ) Kytan daemon engines and Blood Slaughterers (the guys with the harpoon type things - may have the name wrong) can apparently lift some weight. Perhaps don't count FW out?
Although appreciate your self imposed limitations.
|
Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

Certainly a limitation. Not as bad as people on here would have you believe, but certainly worse per point that zerkers or cultists depending on what you use them for.
2. No Psykers, or Daemon Princes.
No psykers isnt much of a big deal for a khorne army lol, but no princes is a definite handicap. But there are still some fun hq options.
3. I must run a Brigade.
Ouch. I mean, are you running CSM khorne or Daemons? You mentioned bloodletter troops before, but you can't mix detachments anymore and a csm brigade might be ok, but a pure daemon brigade... not sure on that one.
4. No FW.
Fair enough, not usually much of a help anyway unless you take leviathans.
Wish me luck!
Curious if youre going csm or daemons.
I'd also suggest that you could still take zerkers as your elites, as long as youre not playing world eaters :p

After so many threads like this I feel like your buddies need to just accept the fact that you're a better player than them. The lists you run are already just on the high end of casual, if your friends know what they're doing then they should definitely be able to compete with them. Eventually the onus has to be on them to improve their play rather than blaming you for "cheese".

I agree with Arachno, at some point your buddies need to step it up or quit complaining. They're holding you back because they don't want to evolve as players.
However, you could let your opponent make your list with what you have for you. That way if you still win it should be clear that you're a better player and it's not the models.

CSM Brigade. No zerkers, they're too easy to win with. I'm suplimenting my need for melee by bringing Chosen and Warp Talons.

And this is not one of my friends ive talked about. He's played MAYBE eight games this edition, and most of them have been with me. I'm on a different skill level entirely than him, so instead of playing stupid, im just playing hardmode to make it a fun and even match. However, im still gonna use this match as an example to my other friend that I can indeed do just fine without bringing what he thinks is 'cheese'.

And it isnt so much a new guy as a "started at the same time but has been absent from the game for months at a time" guy.

Welp, results were that I still won with about 1300 points left on board, but it took me to turn 5 to secure the win.

He was excited to see these units he hasn't seen before (i've literally never played Chaos Space Marines as troop choices, always havocs or chosen. And Chosen for that matter, is a thing i've rarely brought either.)
Overall the game wasn't any less one sided, but the game did last longer. At no point did he have the upper edge, but he also didn't get wiped turn 2 or 3. But even with the edge being to me still, we had a VERY much more fun experience without Letter bombs or Zerker buses.

Not just that - your friend sounds like he's close to being a bit disheartened by the constant losses. If you're able to win with his list, he'll learn something. If you aren't, maybe you can help him refine it by sharing what you thought you might need. It's all about helping him learn, y'know?

If the OP absolutely obliterates him with his own list though, it might dishearten him even more...
Though if his friend is making that many mistakes in play, it should be obvious already and the OP should be able to coach him on those mistakes.

Seeing someone play your army differently then you do can give you ideas on new ways to use units. It’s one thing to theory craft tactics on how you should play better, it’s another to see it in practice.
My son is getting into 40k. From his perspective, I literally have multiple lifetimes of experience over him. He’s mostly borrowing half my army to play, so we pull from the same selection of units. This works very well for him, as he can see how I do things, and maybe give it a try himself next game.
And like the OP, I have to come up with fun restrictions on myself to help level the playing field.
Only minis older then he is
No plastic
All footslogging
Nothing touching the ground
etc.

The only MAJOR flaw he did was using his poxwalkers to deny deepstrike. He already had 3 Mortars in the back, so he could have denied deepstrike that way instead, rather than hunch the 20 poxwalkers in the back of the map and let them get shot to bits before they even see close combat by my bolter marines.
