So vehicles in the codex are specifically allowed to take items under the vehicle equipment list under 'wargear options'. This doesn't exist for the Forgeworld Astra Militarum index nor do forgeworld units have this option on battlescribe. Can FW units like the Artemia hellhound take trackguards like their codex equivalent?

If the datasheet doesn't say they can take them, then they can't take them.

As for house rules, I'd compare the two models, FW Hellhound vs Codex Hellhound.

If the FW model point cost is the same as the codex version, and if the weapon load out was the same, and the abilities were the same, and the only difference was that you paid way too much money for a plastic model, then i'd talk with your opponent and reason with them and say, "look, its the same friggin' vehicle, let me take the tracks"!

They are significantly different.

If you wanted to just use a hellhound that's basically exactly the same as a regular hellhound.......... just use the regular hellhound rules?
