I'm prepping for a decent sized ITC tournament and have a few lists to choose from. Generally speaking, should I be more focused on Anti Tank or Anti Horde? Whats the tournament meta like in your area?

Anti-Tank. The meanest things out there right now are Knights by a mile, but anti-tank weapons are also very effective against both the things that take on knights well (mostly other vehicles/monsters with strong weapons), and Primarchs. Hordes are primarily used to screen Characters and big stuff from close combat.

However, the meta is EXTREMELY diverse leading up to Knights, so while Knights are the most likely to be a part of the list that wins the event, everything around it and the fight up to those top tables could be covered by ANYTHING.

Hordes have been out of the meta for some time.

That said, you want a combination of dakka and anti-tank. The elite armies have such good invulnerable saves you can't rely on a few lascannons.

There are a lot of good armies that are more vulnerable to weight of dice than targeted anti-tank. Eldar jumps to mind, Tyranids if you see them.

In a general sense, unless it's a big tournament, even if it's using the ITC format, your local meta will influence it more than the global meta. That said, it's still very safe to plan on seeing at least 1 or 2 imperial knight players for every 8 people at minimum. And Knights still rule the roost.

Have hordes been meta any time in the last 10 years? I remember leaf blower, triptides, WK/scatterbikes, imperial soup... Never seen a meta where hordes were better than as many big shooty/stompy things as you can fit into a list plus a few squads of troops to hold objectives.

Beginning of 8th you had a lot of conscript/Boyz/brimstone spam that did well. Lately, some Nids lists are doing ok as horde based around a bunch of mortal wound generators.

The question you should be asking is: What's the meta like in the actual tournament you plan to attend?
