Hi there, I have started a Farsight Enclaves army, but I don't have much time, so I need to paint it as quickly as possible. I have some ideas taken from other armies I have painted and tutorials, but I'd like some advice from this forum.

First of all, I have a Salamander army which I painted with a base of warboss green, then wash with Biel-tan Green, and then just go for the details. It is a very quick way to paint them, and the results, if not the best, are still very good, and with a very little time inverted. I vas wondering if something like that could be made with Farsight Enclaves too (in this case, red base and a darker red wash).

Also, I have Tyranids, which I paint with a base of ulthuan gray, then drakenhoff nightshade, then drybrush with ulthuan gray again. In this case, the result is really great, but maybe it wouldn't work this well with farsight enclaves as the effect obtained this way (changing to red colors) may be much better for tyranid flesh than it may be for tau armor.

For the last one, I have also seen a tutorial were an eldar warrior is painted with a dark red base, then drybrush it with a brighter red, then wash it with dark shade, mixing that shade with water. In the video, the result was neat, but I have doubts about that shade staining the red colors too much (as the shade wasn't red color). In the video this didn't happen, but I think the guy was pretty more skilled than I am, and, at last I just want to paint them as quickly as possible, for which having to use time on spotting the shades in speciffic places will be annoying.

Also, I'd like to say that if anyone knows another fast way to paint them, it is welcome to tell it as well.

If any of this ways worked, I'd simply go for the classic red base, agrax shade, then red layer (which is too much time considering the amount of time I normally have to paint, but still an option).

Thank you in advance.

Well, FSE tends towards RED, so a red basecoat via spraypaint (or airbrush!) followed by a dark grey on the mechanicals. Red or brown wash in the cracks of the armor and a lighter red edge highlight.

Washing just the crevices saves a ton of time correcting areas with too much wash. It takes more time to wash than normal, but it does save time overall and is very neat.

If you have an air brush then tau should be easy enough with a dark red base coat and a zenithal and or spot highlights.

without... well if you are looking for quick rather than good then you could do a partially spray painted army. army painter chaotic red base coat, zenithal spray prime dragon red then only edge highlight the top with some lighter red.

paint the mechanical parts black and quickly dry brush a dark grey.

wash black or brown carefully or better yet do an oil wash, seal then finished.

(there is a LOT of risk involved if you are not careful with the spray paint and how much apply.) but you could knock out an army in like a week or less if you are methodical and careful not to make mistakes.

Also depending on what your list is, you may want to do everything in sub assemblies. to avoid missing areas with primer. (though because its army painter they do sell the base color in bottle form so you should touch up the chaotic red before moving on to the dragon red.

I'll do you one better (and faster) OP - simply buy the smallest pigma pen size (in black), and draw in the armor recesses.

Viola. Done. No washes, no trying to be precise with a brush. This method is specifically great for Tau, due to their armor design, not something i go trying on other models really.
(Though this won't help with cloth or skin, so you'll probably still want to wash those as normal - but you're still saving yourself a ton of time)

Personally i find those pens to create way too much contrast when done in black. it can be cool but thats just my opinion.

Pens can work, sure. I recommend using a wash with a small brush because it's forgiving - if your wash goes awry, you can quickly use water to remove it. Pigma pens, not so much, though admittedly they are less likely to go out of control.

I painted this model basically using the method described. Pretty much zero clean-up at any stage. Basecoat, crevice wash, edge highlight, detail. Should work in any color and took an afternoon to do.

I find the best way is to do to get a really dramatic effect on the table (It's how we do ours)

For the armour (In these photos they were unfinished but it was just the highlighting that needed doing)

Dark Brown or Red Brown Spray Primer
Basecoat of INSTAR Crimson Red
Two Coats of INSTAR Heavy Black Wash
Edge of INSTAR Racing Red
Highlight of INSTAR Sunset Orange
Tau Symbol (Or FSE logo) in INSTAR Arctic White

For the Fatigues

Basecoat of INSTAR Obsidian Black
Edge or Drybrush of INSTAR Steel Grey
Highlight of INSTAR Moon Grey

For Vehicles it's pretty much the same except the Central Spine is done with INSTAR Steel Grey and then one of the segments is painted with INSTAR Moon Grey and then another one with INSTAR Obsidian Black
With the wash I was going for a mottled effect, might redo it to fit the rest of the army
