Never understood the belly of the beast rule. Lore wise, daemons that are under control have to follow their masters orders and also the book of Lorgar has many ways to cause daemons great harm, even the strongest of which give up before being threatened.

Which rule is this? Can't find anything in Codex Daemons or CSM.

For the Spartan assault tank, annoying for how expensive it is and seeing how its only purpose is for transport.

I'm not totally sure on the lore here, but there's a couple of possibilities.

1.
This might be seen as acceptable losses for whoever bound the Daemon to the vehicle, for the benefits it confers. The protections on the master may not extend to everyone who interacts with the Daemon engine. Especially if it's created on some DarkMech Forgeworld and then spends centuries being passed around different Chaos warbands.

2.
It might be more to do with the rogue machine spirit of the vehicle than the Daemon. Or the internal conflict of the vehicle between its machine spirit and the Daemon possessing it.

Nope, Urkanthos made it clear in the grey knights omnibus as does Horus in vengeful spirit and daemon engine lore in the codex's. If they don't behave they get years added on to theirsentence, only some of the DG daemon engines enjoy being daemon engines. Only if they are unfed do bounded daemons kill without order, plus on a battlefield it has every opportunity to feed.

Well, daemon engines eating their passengers have been part of the lore at least since 3rd edition. It was in codex 3rd edition as well as 6th, now only FW still uses that rule, but it is established Chaos fluff.
And who says the master of the daemon cares whether it eats one of the negligible followers?

Bound daemons only kill if they haven't been fed, I doubt on a battlefield they are going to be so hungry that they eat their own troops. Its a dated rule and needs to go. Plus vehicles that were possessed could never carry troops in 3rd edition.

Yeah, it may even be seen as a feature rather than a bug. Eating the odd passenger might make the vehicle stronger.

Yeah they don't need to feed their own to it. Its like having a rule in the game that if you roll a 6 you are out of ammo. Its a fluff rule for the sake of fluff, and its no longer that fluffy. I may be a bit biased though because Kharn already kills so many of my troops lol I love that rule though.

Vigo. Spain.

Well. The same goes for old animosity for greenskins in fantasy. Greenskins fight between themselves when theres no enemy to face, but it was not coherent for that to happen in the middle of the battlefield.
But they had the rule to represent that aspect of their society.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

If a unit disembarks from the Spartan, roll a D6. On a 5+ one model is slain/eaten by the Spartan. At the end of your turn roll a D6 for every model killed by the Spartan in CC or eaten when disembarking; on a 5+ you gain a lost wound.

What if I told you that sometimes things that are under 'control' like to act out because punishment is part of the fun?

The real answer is that it's a Forge World model which means that it must by nature have an extremely silly rule.

I collect Orks as well, we have too many stupid rules, like running out of dakka, I mean we are the merchants of dakka.

I don't see how anyone can see that the demon engine rules require a drawback other than the lowered WS/BS (which is probably already to much of a hit on its own.)

It's not always about NEEDING it. Sometimes these rules are added for character or to create unusual gaming situations.

Rules like that will divide people for sure. Some will just see them as an annoyance, others will enjoy to moments it creates. If you don't like it, just don't run it. It's not exactly a core unit for the army.
