Probably won't interest most people who play points but the latest warhammer commuity articles shows a speed freaks list in power level. Looks like they've dropped the power level for trukks. I haven't checked the rest of the existing units.

Seems they are. As are points thus which is badly needed as orks are way worse than mediocre army as it is. Though meanwhile boyz get price hike so unless you drop boyz(just as planned) you don't have much room for other goodies anyway.

The PL drop seems pretty codex wide, sadly, our PL numbers are out of spec as it is, so it is difficult to translate it into reliable points drop speculations.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

seems liek it, which is much needed. space marines are not really considered a powerful army right now and thier stuff is often both better and less expensive on PL and points. liek a rhino if 4pl and 72 point, its +1 T, 3+ vs 5 BS, +1 to armor, and can repair itself... its also 1 power level and 10 points less than a trukk because... reasons?

a SM biker squad (also not particularly strong) consts same 5 pl and points as an ork bike squad. the orks have lower BS, no ability to take a special weapon like the SM, lower armor, lower Leadership, and lack the turbo boost special rule of the SM bikes... but they get +1 attack, woo.

10000 points 7000

Hi there.

Dakka's already had a thread about PL, lately. Safe to say, people use it, and it's still valid as a game mode for some people.

Interestingly to me my good friends who I have gamed with for...about 17 years are starting to migrate to 8th edition. more recently they've been all about 30K but I guess they need their 40K fix. (Plug it in my veins! )
The interesting part is that they don't seem to want to play Space marines and are interested in playing with PL. I'm down for what ever as long as my Orks get to wreck much face.
So, Yep.

And I know you were making the funny joke too.

Remember kids, Games Workshop needs you more than you need them.

Power level is an indicator for points. Looks like Trukks and other things are getting a sizable point drop.

Boyz are getting a PL drop as well, though it's hard to tell yet if that translates to a point decrease as well. The rumor says they're going up to 7ppm, but that doesn't track with them going down in PL, which is a known fact.

Them going down to PL 4 despite going up to 7pts indicates that there are likely going to be significant decreases to the costs for weapon upgrades that are currently pushing boyz up to the current PL 5.

Probably because their PL increase will be based on numbers and will scale differently. Because 10 boyz is not as effective as 30. PL takes this into account better than points, because scaling doesn't have to be linear. Whereas points scaling is always linear.

And if Boyz go up to 7ppm i would not be surprised. They are so incredibly good. If Orks also get more viable delivery systems (transports, psychic) as well as improved durability (psychic powers, updated force fields, etc) they're going to run people over if they're too cheap.

Almost every single codex has seen rather significant points drops (and thus Power Level drops).

Power Level is just as valid now as it was before.

Yes, but not for any kind of competitive play. It's great for casual pick up games or narrative missions. If you want to get into crunchier play though break out the points.
