House of cards was one of my top picks for Netflix series, that was until this current (and likely last) season because they just lit the script on fire and dropped it in the toilet. They also cut it short at 8 episodes vs the 13 that all the previous seasons have had, it was just terrible in every respect.

I personally think it fell off once Frank Underwood won the top spot. For me, the thrill was in the chase. How he manipulated folks, schemed and connived was what made the show great. Once he got what he wanted, it all started to get repetitive and just gross in some cases. Stamper dating the widow of the man who he knocked off the donor list to save Frank, who asked for that?

And its most definitely the last season. I believe the producers and company have said as much. Honestly, I think this season only happened because they didn’t want to can the staff who worked hard and would’ve been left in limbo because of the backlash to Spacey’s pervert life.

Totally agree. I rolled my eyes once he moved his way up to President.

And the show is nothing without him, so I expect it to whither and die.

It certainly isn't going to whither and die, as it's already done.

I watched the last episode last night, and I'm going to disagree with the consensus.

My only real criticism was that it probably needed 10 episodes rather than 8, the end felt a little shoehorned into the last episode and the whole Doug/nuclear threat/assassination/Shepherds thing could have been given more room to breathe.
