Thank you for this awesome tutorial, I am considering building my own table for skirmish games at the moment. I have one question because it's unclear to me: what, exactly is the foam material you used?

Thanks for the kind words guys.

@Luciferian: I used extruded polystyrene (XPS). It is used for insulation. But unlike expanded polystyrene (EPS) it doesn‘t have this little balls inside. It is hard to describe, but XPS is more dense and has a smoother surface. I hope it is clear now. If not, I can make some close up shots later.

That’s one very good looking table. Am just one the road to making some winter terrain for bolt action and it’s great fun adding snow.

Had trouble with the water effects cracking a few years ago when using it plus took a very long time to dry even with thin layers. Have heard/ seen people use the cheap two part clear epoxy that you get from the pound shops / dollar stores so will be trying that instead.
