I recently rooted out my SNES, Megadrive and Amiga emulators on the PC and setup a joypad with them.
Yee Gods, I had forgotten how fun some of the old games were.
Desert Strike, Pinball Dreams, Robocop VS Terminator, Zelda link to the past, Mario, Dogs of War, Golden Axe.

Anyone else play old school emus? Any good recommendations? I never tried setting up PS1 or N64 ones etc (they looked more complicated :( ).

While PS1 emulation is a pain to set up, I recommend it for Final Fantasy 9.

I used to collect retro games before prices went nuts so i’ve been playing plenty of Mega Drive and SNES for years. I still love and regularly play Mercs (MD), Streets of Rage 2 (MD), Turtles in Time (SNES). The Strike games are amazing, I played so much Jungle Strike back in the day.

The Final Fantasy games on PS1 are good, 7 was my favourite. I feel like the N64 has aged pretty badly.

I've just got PS1 emulation running with improved high res graphics on my Pi3. Between that, the bluetooth pad and no disk swapping it's arguably a better experience than playing them on my PS2.

Ploughed through a bit of Shining Force on the Megadrive last Friday.
Very fun if a touch repetitive.

Yeah thats a fair point, the Steam version of FF9 is moddable and a lot more convenient. The Best FF however is 6, while my favourite is 9. 9 does have the objectively best music of any FF game though.
