Hi Folks,

Still a bit of a work in progress, but I have enough terrain to cover the board now. I plan to add more excavations, maybe some more huts... I'm pretty sure I have enough cactus patches, though they still need to have the sand put to them.

I like it. Fun theme!

The theme is great, but the current placement of the bones doesnt really fit with an archeological.dig. The bones.should be in holes.in the ground rather than standing proud on ridgelines. Could you.maybe do.another hill.with a cliff face.and embed a.skeleton in that? Or do a.slightly.raised area.and dig into it like someone is.partway through an excavation.

Thanks folks!

Regarding putting the bones into the ground... tough to do with the board... but next piece I'm planning on putting on the side of a hill. I really wanted the bones to be a visual part of things. Maybe it's more like an elephant graveyard instead... and it's a research station in it?

Hopefully I'll have a couple of pieces to add in the next couple of weeks, and finish up these pieces.

Anyone know where to find computer-y type bits? I'm going to loot my vehicle bits, and maybe some voxes and auspex bits. I'd like to have some options for the "Croco-skull" spot. Maybe a satellite dish, a cook-fire for low-tech use... I dunno. I think that having some options for an outpost "feature" would be a good idea.

They have small and large targeting screens in red and blue (for the viewscreen: the console is white plastic). I'm looking for a cook fire too, although it should not be that hard to make one if necessary.

Not computer bits, but tech bits that can be used to spruce up your own buildings.

If you can get Necron bits, you could put them in the cliff strata. That's even more reason for Kill Team missions to take place at this site.

Thank you, Elder Hamster.

I have a couple of pictures for the next idea I had. As Flinty suggested, having the bones be exposed on the side of a hill feels like a good idea, and a tall hill is a good piece of LOS blocking terrain that I could tier to make it easy to climb on.

Looking great!

Maybe get some scatter terrain to lay around. Smaller rock piles, cargo/supply crates and barrels, etc.

Yes. That looks great and fluffy. You could add ladders to.help.with getting up and down. TTCombat do a great range in resin vents and consoles to add to things. Also Plascraft Games have a fantastic container that is super cheap.

For a camo fire just a circle of small.rocks.and some.ashes would get the idea across. And lights. I.think a dig would have lights and generators. I.did a simple.floodlight unit.out of foamed PVC and some chunks of sprue, but TTCombat does a really good construction site kit with lights and barriers in laser.cut MDF.

Oh, I love that generator / Light idea!

Some crates and barrels are also a great idea.

Thanks folks... hope to check back in a bit with some more goodies.

I think it would be interesting if you added some xeno artifacts. Maybe something of Necron origin buried I the sands. Certainly an interesting concept for killteam, plenty of possible stories and narratives come to mind.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Very cool.

though will say not 100% a fan of the square base on the hut section. just an aesthetic thing with the other terrain being oblong.

You could probably vary up those cacti hills with cheap lichen painted brown to be dry desert bushes to add a bit more obscuring terrain.

for the skull in the hut zone, you could build up a scaffold around ti to make it look like it was moved for closer studies. adding some equipment around to and such.

Speaking of scaffolds you could also do some more high ground terrain with a canyon side with bones sticking out of it and scaffold all around with adding some los blocking walls and platforms for extra game play variate.

Some scaffolding is a great idea as well. I'm up to my neck in other stuff right now, but am looking forward to getting back to this soon.

I wasn't sure about the square base, to be honest. I had initially planned to make a permanent addition to the open space, then changed my mind and wanted to leave it open to make it easy to change up... but now I could cut it closer to smooth the edges, as you say.

So, a bit more work on the cactus fields...
