Anybody know of a UK available spray paint which works fine with them? Without constantly being sticky or melting them?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I wondered why it said spray primers were not recommended, lol.

Best Spray Primer
Many aerosol primers will not cure completely on Bones. Reaper forum members have reported good results with the Army Painter sprays.

Army painter's crystal blue spray primer worked fine on my Bones dragon.

Their desert yellow primer worked on my Bones Griffon.
Not sticky, cured fine. No melting.
I haven't used GW spray paints in over a decade.

I've had them both painted up for over 4 years. No scratched paint, the other layers bound to the primer fine. Even the varnish over the top.
These were Bones 1 releases, though. I can't say how the follow-ups are as apart from the hard plastic shipping containers and rubbish dumpsters, I don't have any post 1.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Just spend the extra to get the metals.
Seriously.
Even after priming, even if the primer dries, the paint is not guaranteed to stick on.
And that's after the 6 weeks clean up per model.

Just go metal.
It's seriously not that much more money.

Valentine - a lot of the Bones range isn't made in metal, esp a lot of the larger models that they've made. Some get converted into metal but others I suspect never will - such as their multi-head dragon.

Halfords paint works fine.

As for the stickiness? That's not the spray but other factors like technical paints. Give the offending areas a coat of Dullcote lacquer (spray or brush on) to stop it being sticky.

I use Halfords spray.
It isn't guaranteed to work.
It didn't for me.

(And no before anyone says it. It did not have any other external factors involved.
It was raining.
It wasn't overly hot.
It wasn't that cold.
It wasn't humid.
It wasn't dry.
Pluto wasn't aligned with Mars.
The spray wasn't mixed with vinegar.
It just didn't work. So don't even think about it)

I've used Army Painter primer on many Bones figures and it's held up well. My 7 year old son plays with them and doesn't treat them gently, and the primer doesn't come off easy even under that treatment, so I feel pretty confident in continuing to use it. Don't know which generation Bones this is, I've used it on multiple figures bought from the hobby shop over the past few years.

The Army Painter primes have worked for me and I tested out a bunch of different primers...

I've had mostly no problems priming with Stynylrez out of an airbrush on Bones minis. But there was one case where it did adhere differently than I expected.

I was painting a scenery piece, maybe a weapons locker? A piece of pipe cleaner got hooked to the mini and and primer peeled off in a single sheet.

After washing the mini I was able to do it again without issue.
