OK, generally as a rule novels based on video games are bad.
There are exceptions to most rules, and Crysis:Legion is a biggie.
Crysis:Legion is based on the FPS game Crysis 2 and written by Peter Watts, a very hard SF writer. It is in many ways a fairly bard SF novel with a lot of real science ce thrown in, especially biological science given Peter Watts majows in biology. Did you known Portia spiders have remarkably high intelligence despite having a barely visible brain? Did you know that a dying male hanging fly will rape another male hanging fly before it dies and this is a perfectly valid reproductive strategy? You wlll after reading Crysis:Legion.
This novel works on many levels. It's a SF action novel. Itcs a military combat SF novel. It's a social commentary novel. Itcs egen something of a hardcore "superhero" novel as the main character finds himself becoming literally superhuman, but at the cost of his humanity. It's a deep character study. It is not a stupid pulp novel, it is not a dumb video game novel.
I can't recommend Crysis legion highly enough. It is an intelligent look at a genre that normally doesn't get an exceptionally intelligent and gifted writer to look at it.
