Steam always has an odd idea of when Autumn is - even odder that in less than a month they'll also do their Christmas sale So if you can't afford this month remember that it swings around in December too.

I believe the start of winter is usually pegged to the winter solstice on December 21. Of course, my fellow Canadians will agree that that is total and utter horse gak.

I'm glad I waited a day.

Was about to buy Jurassic World Evolution and saw it was AUD$70. Figured that was too much. Next day it was 60% off!

Literally the day after the last leaves are off my backyard maple tree (due to cold rainstorm), I have an inch of snow preventing me from raking them.

Mind you, we did have an extra long summer, but we pretty much skipped Autumn entirely this year.

May pick up Slime Rancher and the Red String Club, but other than that not a lot I'm itching to get right now or have already purchased during the wilder years of these sales. I miss those days.

Friends picked up No Man's Sky. So I just picked up No Man's Sky. Regret is setting in before it is done downloading, is this normal?

If download takes more than 2 hours - then yes!
However in most cases it should resolve itself after 2.1 hours of gameplay have passed.

Thus far all I've picked up is Cities Skylines Industries - really neat DLC! It adds a lot of depth and building options to the whole industry side of the game and fleshes it out a lot more than what it was before (where it was basically just put down roads and area zoning). The whole product production, combination and output system adds a neat layer of transport management and building planning that the game otherwise often felt it lacked
And yet the game still has its very casual air to playing. It's added a lot and yet taken nothing away from the core elements of the gameplay and structure that makes the game fun.

Probably one of the best DLC they've released for the game

Well, yes. Because you purchased No Man's Sky.

Good thing Steam has a returns policy.

NMS is a perfect example of how first impressions matter a hell of a lot. It doesn't matter that, to a large degree, people feel it's actually become a solid game after whoknowshowlong of updates and hard work, because it's been forever tainted by the appalling launch.

Andromeda would've been if EA--and subsequently Bioware--hadn't thrown a tantrum and cut support after a promising first wave of patches, and if Fallout 76 gets its act together it may well evolve to be another shining example.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I liked it at launch. I like it even more now they have added a lot to it (all free btw). YMMV.

It simply how the industry works. State at release (and sales at release) matter a lot more than state later on (or sales over time).

NMS is a weird exception- most games get little or no support after their initial lifecycle (certain genres excepted), and most companies won't chase losses to fix up a game that went bust out of the gate. No matter how laudable it might be, its bad business in terms of cost and return. Especially with discounts and price drops over time.

With the industry focus on the latest thing, it will be interesting to see how far some companies can stretch remakes and remasters (especially with the ones that are really short turnovers like Skyrim, rather than going for Oblivion or the much 'vaunted' Morrowind)

I have been playing a lot of Multiplayer in NMS and honestly I am enjoying it a lot.

However, this game is kind of super buggy still.

Need to revisit NMS one of these days, maybe when my brother gets it so we can do it in coop, as right now it's okay, but clunky and repetitive to no end.

Back on topic, decided to go with Slime Rancher, the Red Strings Club and Mechanicus. Not much else that I want that's on sale so I think I've managed to come away mostly unscathed for a change.
