Vigilus begins in just over an hour and 15 minutes.
I figured it would be a good idea to have a thread ready to go for when the announcements come in so we can all collectively groan or freak out with excitement.

I'll be there so I'll try post pictures as I go round. I encourage anyone else who's going to do the same.

Was sitting here trying to decide which of the holiday boxes to buy to start a different army after I concluded I couldn't keep up painting GSC for an escalation league, now they give me the fast attack options and I feel like I should just nolife my way through regardless.

If you read the article up on WHC they have a whole paragraph in the Chapter Approved section dedicated to confirming that Grey Knights are getting buffed.

I meant something more like a mention in the campaign, would be nice to see the GKs involved, especially if demons are too.

It says they are getting point drops. Doesn't say how much and on which units, and if other armies get those too. If GW decides to make LR, rhinos and razorbacks 5-15pts cheaper, and all marines get it, it won't be helping GK a lot. Have to wait and see, the link to the GK codex in the article is cheeky though. GK codex is so old almost nothing in it works the way it does in the book.

Absolutely love the Honour Guard models. I said I wouldn't do Primaris Ultramarines and leave them all as Mark VIIs, but I think I'm going to have to redact that statement. They look utterly stunning!

I'm also super hyped for the Urban Conquest stuff and the character creation rules in CA.

Also, to anyone who doubted that oldMarines could be made into Primaris, there's the proof.

Yeah those HG are great looking models - Would love to be able to actually field them. New Calgar is absolutely pimp daddy. My Current finecast Calgar is probably my best painted model...Guess I'm going to have to 1 up myself.

I absolutely love the announcements, but have a couple of reservations.

- Bit miffed that it's a generic Chaos Lord being released. While it's a great model, this would have been a great chance for a plastic Abaddon.

- I love the Warbringer Titan, but have the feeling the rules are going to be a bit crap. Probably exactly the same as a regular Warlord stat-wise, except with Reaver weapons, 2x Quad Autocannons and the Mori Quake Cannon which the Warlord can take 2 of anyway, either that or a huge cannon which can still only target one unit at a time.

The 4 wheeler looks like it's also GSC, it's displayed in between the bikes and gunslinger. Unless you're talking about the ones that are out of frame?
Either way, I'm not a fan of GSC as a faction, but those fast attack options look awesome.

Looks more like a harbinger of Primaris in terminator armour to me.

Necrons and tau don’t get to participate in the Vigilus campaign; only those on Vigilus will get special rules; no primarch like models for anyone else; GW is aware of soup and CP exploration, but not looking to tune it down; Imperium will be in every future campaign

Basically, “feth you” if you’re not Imperium, is the only way to read this.

Edit: poster of reddit thread clarified that it comes down the model sculpts for LOW/primarchs, if the team does a cool LOW size model, it might get converted into a release - which is something, I guess.

What would be wrong with 9 wounds? Characters can't be targeted unless they have 10 or more wounds.

I don't know how to feel about the part where it's the Art team that decides every new release. On one hand it means total freedom for the artists and that they're not oppressed by the business staff to work on imposed choices, but on the other it means a faction can be without significant release for a long time if they never feel inspired to work on them (thinking about Aeldari and their resin warriors). Can't have everything at once I guess.

I had high hopes to have more leaks about CA 2018 when they said that players had a read on the book but so far absolutely nothing. I take it the book wasn't actually in public view ?

I didn't quite take it that way, not to that extreme.

I absolutely think that the higher ups said "we need a new direction on Space Marines, show us what you got!". They'll be given broad direction along those lines, and have an awareness of how factions are supposed to play and what they need to play that.

That's all different than what they actually said in the panel, which was simply that the rules team doesn't direct them on specific niches.

Aeldari with get a proper big release of new Aeldari sculpts when the top people decide to have a push on Aeldari. Not when some studio guy happens to churn out some artwork.

Though I'm sure occasionally they change plans and release a one off model just because the art is so awesome!

Ultimately though I think all they're saying is that they'll only release something if they think it's cool.
