Anyone else watch it? I barely made it thru (shudder) the horror of "Mac and me" but the rest of the movies were more bearable.

Finished it already. The different aquatic variants of the bots in Killer Fish was a treat. Atlantic Rim was painful as well and just as groan inducing. Cave Dwellers has always been a favorite so seeing another Ator movie (Ator the Fighting Eagle) was fun even if the film is a jumbled mess. Actually all the films were a jumbled mess with awkward endings. All in all a good set to riff on.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I watched it over the Thanksgiving weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Mac & ME and Atlantic Rim were absolutely hilarious; I've gone back and rewatched them already.

I watched it. I'm really surprised to find that Felecia Day is still the villain. I love Geek and Sundry, but the woman isn't an actress. I think the only one that fell flat so far was the truly terrible Lords of the Deep movie. They tried hard, but noone can make that a pleasent watching experience.

Were the original cast members really actors or just people performing on a show they created?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Instead of "lords of the deep" they should ave shown "endless descent". That movie followed a proven rule of film making: To make a movie popular you should A. Put R. Lee Army in it and B. Have him killed.

MST3K always had pure acting positions (the evil doctors, various walk-on minions, and of-course the crew of the satellite of love) and the three critics (playing Crow, Tom Servo, and the hapless test subject) playing a hybrid role that involved the snarky comments during the film and quite a bit of the joke writing as well. Those guys still eprform on Rifftrax where they alternate between pure audio performances and occasional live shows. You've never seen Starship Troopers until you've seen their now-infamous

'awkward shower scene interrupted by a man in a gorilla suit'
bit.

Granted, the acting bar is set pretty low in MST3K. Actors are expected to Ham it Up and overacting is encouraged. If Ms. Day were overacting it'd probably go well, but she never seems to get into any of her roles in the various acting bits she's done and has trouble displaying an emotion other than 'chipper'. She's a great community manager, show host (a type of acting in which under-expressing is encouraged), and there's no denying that's she's been pretty popular as a model. She just keeps popping up in these wierd places as an actress and it's a role she doesn't do well. I wasn't surprised they launched with her - she has a ton of star power and there's a big overlap between the community she's built and MST3k - but I think this has to be the longest acting job she's ever held.
