After talking to several of my close friends and having many of them describe ME:SBG as the best rule set GW has ever put out, I've decided to jump in. I picked up a box of Warrior of Minas Tirith, Knights of Minas Tirith, and have placed an order with my FLGS for a Gondor Commanders box and a blister of Osgiliath Vets. What would you all recommend I get at a later date (maybe when we bump from 500 points to 1k or after Christmas)? Any tips from experienced Gondorian commanders to help out a newb to SBG/Minas Tirith?

That new Forge World captain is amazing for holding the line.

I guess I could get that set of figs and use Hurin on horseback with the Knights of MT and Ingold with a group of Warriors of MT. That sounds pretty slick.

Boromir of Gondor is about as rock solid of a hero you can get outside of Aragorn. Tons of Might points, and unlike his Fellowship-era self he has some Fate to play with. King Aragorn is of course an important future purchase too because, well, he's mother-effing Aragorn!

You'll find yourself wanting some Rangers at some point due to their great Shooting - them and the pack of Faramir & Damrod or Cirion & Madril would make a lot of sense.

If you get Faramir and/or Boromir, I'd recommend another pack of Osgiliath Vets (they get a Fight bonus if they're near Boromir or Faramir)

Boromir and Fountain guards. The first one is a strong character and it gives lot of useful buffs to the army.
Fountain guards do not test for terror and have F 4 and D 7 which is pretty good.

I have also recently started with Minas Tirith, I picked up Aragorn foot and Mounted and a box of Minas Tirith warriors. I was also going to buy Eowyn, as even though she does not seem very good she was my favourite character from the movie, should I replace her with someone else for a 500pt army or should I rework my army all together. Any Advice?

Eowyn is a desent character for her cost, but you need her upgraded with horse, shield and armour in order for her to work well. having her lead a small contingent of rohan royal gaurd could work.

it is the best option i can think of how to run her with aragorn, as the mitnh tirth provide a strong shield wall and use eowyn to mo up archers and back line units.

Yah gotta get some rangers.
Nice models and breaks up the silver.
Stick a dozen on each flank in cover to protect your army.

An important thing to note about Rangers is that while there are plenty of things that don't care about S2 bowshots (most elves, any shieldwall, most dwarves) they do wound unarmoured horses on 5+ (strategically dropping horses can stop a Rohan army in its tracks) and if you give them spears they can contribute budget Fight 4 (or Fight 5 with flag!Boromir) to models in front of them using spears. You won't be scything down waves of incoming foes with them, but they can be a good flexible utility piece.
