Am I thinking correctly that in Missions with Acceptable Casualties (that removes the Sudden Death rules) it is possible to get a big enough lead on mission points that you could basically "sacrifice" yourself and end the game before the opponent can catch up on points?
Or does the game keep going for the normal turns even if you have no models left?

Hmm...
So the rule that says the game ends when one player has no units left is the Sudden Death rule, which you don't use if the mission has Acceptable Losses.
Technically then, unless I'm missing something big, the remaining player is supposed to play out the rest of the game solo!

As written, the game doesn't end when one player has no models on the field, so would keep going until the game length conditions are met.

It's possible there are more details in Chapter Approved to be fair. If not, it'll need an FAQ.

If it is as you say and that you wholesale ignore the sudden death rules, then yes, you'd play the rest of the turns solo until the game ends. Fun Trivia: If at the end of any turn after the first battle round, more than one player has no models on the battlefield, the game doesn't end. You could potentially have a situation where two players simultaneously end up with only flyers (or one player with only flyers) and would need to play out the rest of the turns.

Maybe we could wait for the actual book, email GW instead of posting online, wait two weeks, read the FAQ then have a discussion?

Absolutely. It wouldn't be the first time a Community article didn't print the full rule.

Oh, I agree. I just had the random thought of someone gaining a points advantage, then specifically putting their units in positions to get killed quickly to end the game. But as it is, it doesn't look like that's the case (thank goodness)
