So I don't think there's an official base size guide for models like in AoS. But if I have a bunch of bloodletters on old 25mm bases how is this generally viewed in a tournament setting? If there's a unit of 30 charging the smaller bases will obviously enable a lot more models to fit into melee range as compared to newer models on 32's. Is this now considered MFA or is it usually just accepted as ok?

I have seen TOs suggest you upgrade them to 32mm. Obviously only your TO can answer this. I'm sure most won't care.

I've upgraded them, it's not too difficult with base extenders.

There are no rules about base size. All base sizes are legal from a RaW perspective. As for tournament house rules, you need to ask them directly.

Sure, I'm aware that the smaller bases wouldn't be illegal as such. I was just wondering whether in general they were still widely accepted in tournaments or whether most places are insistent on using the current retailed bases for that unit. Obviously for a specific tournament it would be whatever the TO decided. In hindsight maybe YMDC isn't the most appropriate forum for this, maybe I should repost in general discussion.

It really varies. For the most part, using the base that came with the model has always been the most accepted, with the occasional outlier like Terminators in some events being required to be on 40mm... But in recent years there seems to have been an increasing shift towards using current bases.

There's no standard, though.

Maybe not difficult but can be very expensive. For me the process would up to around 200€. Before even factoring in extenders...Which would also make bases look worse than doing them from scratch completely.
