..guess now is the only time for this sort of film eh ?

Well, that’s a thing.

Dark twist on Superman. Can’t trust those aliens, Batman was right.

I will try not to get excited as the last "serious" superman was a huge let down for me.

That said at least this one looks like it might at least change the formula somewhat! Which is a good thing, the opening of many of the marvel and dc heroes is so overdone now that most people know the introduction and what will typically happen. Some things shift around but they mostly stay the same structure.

That said the trailer makers could just be toying with us. We don't see superman, or rather Clark, doing any of the horror bits. So there's every chance that we see a "there were two" pods and the evil actions we are seeing here are the "evil twin" approach.

Who knows, it at least has some potential

(and sadly if it does well we can expect a swathe of "Dark Heroes" with all of them getting a new "now I'm all grimdark and evil" films)

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Well, if that's going to happen, better it happens as ripoffs/homages than as the actual characters.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

super interesting. A horror movie where superman is the monster.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Yes?

And kudos, I suppose, for out-grimdarking the 'regular' DCEU?

Frankly the concept looks like the best comic book villain since Chronicle.

If you watched the trailers then you’ve seen most of the movie, except for the extra bits of body horror/mutilation. It was alright. Not amazing, not terrible.

Too bad it wasn't amazing, I thought it looked really good. Still planning on seeing it.

It looked really good, but that’s because they put all the really good stuff in the trailer. The rest of it is ok, more slow burn horror. Still worth seeing if you like horror movies.

Oh, I just remembered a really good scene not in the trailers. I won’t spoil it.

Yes. Its if Kal El arrived on Earth elsewhere than the Kents, and grew up far differently...at least as far as I understand.

The movie is literally Superman growing up taken in the opposite direction. Instead of becoming a moral paragon, Clark becomes this power mad douche who goes from casually using his powers in the selfish kind of ways a kid might to becoming a monster.

I swear there was a Superman comic that used the exact same premise, but I can't remember the name of it.

Two possibilities that I know of:

Injustice, in which the Joker kills Lois Lane, and Superman breaks bad, and Red Son, in which Superman lands in the Soviet Union as a baby instead of Kansas. I am sure there are more.

I'm sure many of the big long running super heroes have had one shot comics or short series where they were shown turning evil or with their origin being corrupted to evil.
And there will be those alternate versions that were the exact same character concept made evil just not using the core character name.

I want to see this movie intensely. Its not the superhero movie I want. Its the superhero movie I DESERVE.

This, Godzilla, Zombieland II, and It, an embarrassment of riches!

Red Son isn't exactly evil Superman. It's more Superman-with-a-different-moral-code. The same is true of "Justice League: Gods and Monsters." EG, Superman is still heroic, for some kind of definition of heroic.

Injustice and Justice Lord Superman are examples of Good Superman turning evil due to some kind of traumatic event. - Justice Lords is, Lex Luthor becomes president, intends to destroy the world, Superman kills him and falls down the slippery slope into evil. Injustice, Joker teams up with Scarecrow infects Superman with kryptonite laced fear gas causing Superman to kill Lois, triggering a bomb that destroys Metropolis, resulting in basically everyone Clark Kent knows dying horribly. Things escalate...

The two main "Evil Superman" from the start I know of are: Crime Syndicate Ultraman - basically from a world where heroes are villains and villains are heroes. They most recently appeared in the surprisingly good New52 storyline called 'Forever Evil.'

The other is "Superboy Prime" who, quite frankly, is a whole gigantic mess of bs and, from the looks of it, is probably the inspiration for Brightburn. He's basically a kid from the 'real' world, who finds out he's Kryptonian and, well, horror ensues. He eventually joins the main DC universe world, losing his temper and murdering a whole bunch of people, then shrugging it off because 'they're just comic book characters.' The main arc I know him from is "Infinite Crisis." And, well, yeah, Superboy Prime is awful and the absolute worst.

To me this is more like how Superman would have really turned out. Absolute power corrupts absolutely...

Where's Suicide Squad when you need them!

Saw it last night with Wife and Daughter. Daughter and I loved it. Wife was meh.
Loved the twist on the take. A few scenes were a little needlessly gory.

This is a horror movie. It felt like a possession style horror film and not a superhero twist film. It is definitely not for kids.
