In the flash gordon movie with Max Von Sydow, how is it ming the mercilless had black blood but his daughter, princess aura, had red blood? I never figured that one out...

Princess is a hybrid between Ming’s species and another.

Or, his Black Blood is the result of genetic tinkering to expand his life.

More importantly, I’m sure Vultan shouts DIIIIEEEEEE, rather than dive.

Is she even really his daughter by blood, or possibly adopted?

I think her relationship to him varies on the setting. Similarly how alien Ming is also varies. In some he's basically human in all but name; in others he's totally alien.

She's always his daughter, but sometimes its by adoption, conquest, genetic manipulation and by natural birth - either from human to human or from interspecies (since its clear that the denizens of Mongo are fairly capable of interbreeding despite their significant physical variations)

Actually, if you look at Ming slide off the point of War Rocket Ajax, you'll see a blue tint to the blood on the spike.

And did we see her blood, or did we simply see bruising on her skin?

I was shocked to hear the famous theme song recently on a TV commercial of the camera built into a phone. It grabbed my attention across the bar in mid-sentence......

Yes, it's been haunting me daily since I saw the movie on video years ago. I've searched the net for years to find the perfect place to ask this incredibly important question. I finally found this site and knew it was the perfect place to pose this vital query.

We live to serve!

And yes, it is a fun movie.

Shame the sequel never got off the ground.

For...interesting reasons.

I understand max von sydow enjoyed paying ming quite a bit and would have been happy to do a sequel. He loved being encouraged to go totally over the top.

Here is the clip. He definitely says the V sound both times he shouts the word in this clip. However, I'm pretty sure he never says, "Hawkmen, dive!", the most famous 'quote' from the whole movie.

It's the line "Oh, well. Who wants to live forever? HAHAHAHA! DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

People think he says Die for some reason.

Pretty sure it is Dive, but Die just suits him so much better!

It's a bit drowned out under the soundtrack.

I'd forgotten they did the good guy lasers (blue) vs bad guy lasers (red)

My favorite scene was with the assteroids. (Yes, assteroids, a rare hazard of space flight.)
