1. X-Wing 2.0 (I was scared the game would nosedive, it really is an improvement over the already fantastic first version)
2. Knights Renegade set (It finished my year's long accumilation of Knights, Helverins, etc.)
3. AT Knights (Tiny, but brilliant miniatures that were exceedingly fun to paint)
4. --
5. WW2 (Bolt Action) (It just feels like what 40K COULD have been)
6. Adeptus Titanicus (who doesn't love mechs in their native environment?)
7. X-Wing (2.0) (hands down, best game years running)
8. Star Wars Stormtroopers (painted up as 501st legion) (easy to do, but turned out exactly as expected)
9. AT Knight (w/ vulcan MG & power fist) (It's so cute!!!!)
10. Blackstone Fortress thread (once the game was announced, had to have it. Been fun anticipating it and giving it a hard time at the same time).

1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Kill Team, just the right amount of rules/short game for my interest at the moment
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
Skitarii Rangers/Vanguards
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
Skitarii Vanguard Alpha, went with Stygies VII scheme and they were really fiddely with all the colors but came out nice enough that I wouldn't mind having a small army of Admech now if I could afford it.
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
About 750 point mirror-ish match of Chaos Space Marines. Honorable mention to a Kill Team game versus a Necron player where I trigger their animation protocols 3 times and nearly melted myself with plasma overcharging 4 times.
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
N/A, didn't play many new games this year or anything out of sci-fi
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
Kill Team
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
A re-designed version of Deadzone 1st ed using the Savage Worlds/Great Rail Wars game engine.
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
Skitarii Ranger/Vanguard Kill Team
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
This year, a land raider in Black Legion colors. All time, a 1:56 Sherman tank, maybe a KV-2 of the same scale.
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
N/A, don't have one.
1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Still BMG. Love my Batman, and even though its a smaller game in terms of playerbase, the group is great and I love playing
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
I've bought a lot of minis this year, and I really can't pick any one that I like the most. My Flash, Three Hunters, Captain Cold, all things I really love for different reasons.
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
I enjoyed painting a lot of things, but the 2 that I enjoyed the most (yes I'm cheating) were Ezra Miller Flash for BMG and my first Aragorn for LotR (not sure which version it is)
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
I honestly can't answer this one, I've had so many great games over the year that there's no single one that stands out
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
I guess this has to be Blood Bowl, because it's the only new genre I've tried this year
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
I only played my first Specialist Game this year, so it's between Middle Earth and Blood Bowl. I've played more Blood Bowl, but damn I'm enjoying Middle Earth a lot more
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
Batman Minis as above
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
I don't really tend to play "squad" games any more, so I guess the only thing that applies is Rangers for LotR (they're almost finished, they count!). I own some unpainted squads, mostly because my The Other Side pledge arrived, but none are painted
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
Haven't painted a single vehicle this year
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
Not really sure here, but I found this video quite great for Warriors of the Dead
1. B5 ACTA.
2. Not a model but several, got a grab bag from Anvil Industry with loads of gubbins and cool stuff. Making a Sikh looking officer with saber and pistol for IG.
3. Either a Whitestar or my proxy Warlock Destroyer.
4. Not the next but the one after battlereport for my ACTA campaign, secret.
5. Saga 2.
6. N/A
7. B5 ACTA/X-Wing.
8. A squadron of 6 whitestars.
9. As above.
10. Tough one, there are so many great blogs, plogs, podcasts etc. Cant pick.

1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Shadows of Brimstone if we can include board games. Frostgrave otherwise. I'm not a very good Frostgrave player, but I love pushing mooks off buildings.
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
It's a tie among the Bandai Mecha Collection spaceships.
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
Targa Guardian from SoB. Not that it had much competition...
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
Four way One Page 40k match. I kept falling out of towers while two of my opponents ganged up one the third.
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
Multiplayer skirmish.
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
Battlefleet Gothic. Or Newcromunda if we have to pick new minis.
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
Shadows of Brimstone. Although for minis, Deadzone/Warpath for the variety of aliens.
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
skip
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
Great idea for a thread! Have put some pics in spoiler tags
1. Your favorite game system you played this year? Sounds dreadful but I hardly played wargames at all this year.. a couple of games of Team Yankee that were fun.
2. Your favorite model you purchased? Got hold of some 1st edition 40k Metal Terminators. A whole set for Space Hulk, always wanted these as a kid but could never afford them.
3. Your favorite model that you painted? Loved the new Genestealer Cultist kit, this is probably my favourite
Spoiler:
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out? Really got into boardgames this year if that counts! X-Com, Zombicide: BP, Kingdom Death were some of my favourites.
6. Your favorite Specialist Game? Torn between Blood Bowl and Epic.. but also love Necromunda as a close 2nd/3rd.
7. Your favorite Non-GW game? Kingdom Death is an absolute work of twisted and haunting genius, and tremendous fun.
8. Your favorite squad you painted? Absolutely love these little dudes from Vanguard Miniatures, incredible character for 6mm sculpts
Spoiler:
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted? Not really wargaming, but a 1:72 scale Su27 Flanker aircraft kit from Hasegawa
Spoiler:
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread? Probably anything written by Kid Kyoto on this forum!

Cool idea for a thread!
1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Only been playing one system so far - Dungeons and Dragons!
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
GW Hydra, definitely.
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
GW Shaggoth, almost tied with the Hydra
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
My players attacked the "Pit of Chaos" in the Barrowmaze megadungeon and fought a Beholder!
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
Not a wargame, but I have been playing a Sherlock Holmes game with my wife that is sort of like a Choose Your Own Adventure mystery solving game.
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
Not playing any at the moment!
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
Dungeons and Dragons!
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
I think my Croak Hunters came out really nice.
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
Haven't painted any.
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
I am a big fan of Matthew Colville's youtube channel and the Alexandrian blog!
1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
GASLANDS
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
Great Unclean One
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
Ogre boomer captain, I guess. I barely painted anything, so not much competition.

4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
Spook Harvest for Necromunda2017
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
Post-apoc racing (Gaslands)
There's going to be a certain amount of bias in my responses, since the vast majority of my hobby time this year has been devoted to Maelstrom's Edge, but I'll give it a go...
1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Maelstrom's Edge. Not just because of my link to it, since I wouldn't have been as interested in working on it if it wasn't a great game
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
Hmm... 'purchased' counts out anything from Maelstrom's Edge, so I would have to go with Artel W's 'Woofy, the Cyberdog'
Spoiler:
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
Gnolti Longhorn conversion, for Maelstrom's Edge:
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
Don't really have one for this.
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
Tried out the modern-era Zombicide and had a blast.
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
Necromunda... although I have yet to try the new version. Quite possibly won't.
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
Maelstrom's Edge, obviously...
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
Epirian SecDef heavy weapons team kitbash. Not my best paintwork, but I had an awful lot of fun putting these guys together.
Although they're only a nose ahead of these guys -
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
This converted Raptor buggy from Mantic:
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
I have to admit to getting a good chuckle out of quite a few of GW"s teaser videos this year. They've really brought their A game to social media.

You do not need to answer any or all of them, but answer what you want. Post pictures if you want too.
I will add my answers a bit later......
1) adeptus titanicus
2) warlord(for said game)
3) read 2
4) Not sure. I rather like the way AT does it's matched play scenario though. Plenty of combinations it results and takes into account point difference so that sides don't have to be equal point values
5) big robot fight
6) read 1
7) presumably one that I played this year? Full thrust
8) lancer knights
9) read 2

1: TANKS! WWII.
2: Rubicon Hybrid Sherman.
3: Rubicon T-34/85.
4:
5: TANKS! Modern age.
6: Battlefleet Gothic.
7: Bolt Action or Black Powder.
8: Warlord American GI's.
9: Rubicon T-34/85.
10: Pretty much anything from Herbert Erpaderp
1 ) Guild Ball
2)Veteran Honour (Guildball)
3) The assorted Rock Warbeast for my Hordes army, my painting is mehh at best but rocks is easy
4) Steamroller missions for Hordes, whilst I dont like all of them, getting my fellow WMH players away from last Caster standing set to's has been a small victory
5) Haven't really dabbled in anything new this year, Keyforge looks tempting
6) Where's my BFG spacesheeps....
7) Again Guild Ball, fits my current requirements just so
8) The old metal Fire Dragons I picked up from the local annual nerd show
9) An old metal Eldar Dreadnought
10) Too many to pick favourites
"AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED."
1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Kill Team but, I bet if I get a game of Adeptus Titanicus in, I'd probably lean towards the latter instead of the former.
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
Honestly, this is probably a bit silly but, I love the Adeptus Titanicus terrain, but, I think the Sector Mechanicus box set with the galvantic servohaulers was the best for me this year.
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
Knights from Adeptus Titanicus.
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
I wouldn't know to be honest. I'll edit this if I get a game in before December is over.
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
Kill team.
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
Adeptus Titanicus.
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
This is a tough one. Either Halo Fleet Battles or Battletech.
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
My kill-team squad cause they're nearly done.
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
A lasplas Razorback old school Rhino that Gitsplitta gave to me years ago. It's nearly done.
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
That's honestly too hard to pick, there are so many good Dakkadakka articles.

1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
Adeptus Titanicus. I wish the game was a little more granular, with deep options for Titan customization, but the game plays brilliantly and my immersion is fantastic. Sweep the legs!
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
Adeptus Titanicus Warlord Titan. They really translated the details down well, and captured the essence of the 40k-scale version for sure. Plus it's just a lot of fun to build and paint!
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
My Julius Caesar bust. We had just finished a Sergio Calvo seminar, and I was able to put the stuff he taught us to good use, and it's really changed the way I approach painting. The past few months have been very exploratory as I expand those techniques into smaller scales and army painting, and it's definitely allowed me to be more expressive and quick with my painting.
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
The new Chapter Approved scenarios are a lot of fun, especially when you draw two cards when generating Objective cards, and your opponent decides which one you keep.
5. Your favorite new genre or era of games you tried out?
TINY TITANS!
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
I mean, c'mon. Titanicus, bro.
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?
Guild Ball. It's a shame that nobody in my local area/group really plays, and I hate the fact that Steamforged has continued on the path of PVC-ing all of it's new kits. It's killed virtually all motivation for me to continue playing this game with any seriousness.
8. Your favorite squad you painted?
My Destroyers. Mini-fying my original Necron mech-robot design to make this squad was a lot of fun, and I thoroughly enjoy knowing that my Destroyers don't look like torsos on hoverboards.
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
My Ghost Ark. A blast to convert, and brilliantly fun to paint. I dread the day I decide I need a second Ghost Ark :/ But it looks totally menacing on the tabletop, and draws more fire than it should (probably because I play it too aggressively because it looks so aggressive, and I forget it's just a piddly transport).
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
Does League of Legends count? I recently got into watching the NA LCS last year, and this year started following both the LCK and the EULCS (now the LEC), so I've been following LOL eSports on Youtube religiously and FNatic-ally (see what I did there? )

- Nano-Metal Figures as The Union of Semi-Professional Super Heroes
9. Your favorite vehicle you painted?
- All Quiet on the Martian Front Mobile Artillery

1: Warhammer 40k 8th edition. It's the only system I play regularly.
2: I couldn't say really, I bought a fair few really cool models.
3: Tough question! It's either Abaddon, a Daemon Prince of Slaanesh, a Foetid Bloat-drone, or a Ravenwing Talonmaster.
4: Another tough question, but since I mostly play either tournament games or practice for tournament games, I'd have to go with the 40k ITC Champions missions. They are very well balanced and fun.
5: I didn't really branch out into other genres this year. Maybe next year if I paint my Guild Ball set or if I get into Blood Bowl.
6: Blackstone Fortress. I haven't actually played, but it's just so cool! I can't wait to start playing and paint all the models from the set.
7: Corvus Belli's Infinity. Again, haven't started playing yet, but I hope to start next year, and I do already have a couple of forces from one of the starter sets.
8: A unit of Noise Marines that I painted in Alpha Legion colors. Had a real blast working on them.
9: My Dark Angels Repulsor. Probably my favorite vehicle I've ever worked on.
10: If a battle report channel counts, my favorite is The Glacial Geek on Youtube. He does fun non-competitive battle reports and makes it fun to watch.
My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

1. Your favorite game system you played this year?
DnD 3rd ed. I DM’d for my wife and kids a 1st level adventure to level 2. Lots of fun.
2. Your favorite model you purchased?
I bought a lot of models this year. Wow. A lot. So many. Probably... a unit of Orks for KT. I really like the Nob I made up with a converted combi-Skorcha.
3. Your favorite model that you painted?
I really liked an Ork I keep linking to. And I painted up a Circle Battlegroup that went well outside my comfort zone.
4. Favorite scenario or mission you played this year?
The brief campaign with my family was a real highlight. I also have tons of fun with the 4-player 40k games we play. One central objective and then everyone placed an objective where they want.

Kill Team.
6. Your favorite Specialist Game?
Blood Bowl... 2... on X Box.
7. Your favorite Non-GW game?

Still a WIP, but painting a Punisher to represent the Commissar upgrade.
10. Your favorite game related video, blog, article, or thread?
I don’t have an idea off the top of my head.
1. Necromunda
2. AT reaver titan or maybe the Cawdor gang.
3. An escher juve, the only ganger I ever got around to finishing this year.
4. Not sure, maybe the basic necromunda zone mortalis scenario.
5. N/A
6. In terms of fun, Blood Bowl. Model wise it has to go to titanicus though
7. SW Legion or BSG starship battles
8. Never finished a whole squad this year...bummer

3. Trollbloods Dire Troll, extreme sculpt.
4. Played a lot of the PP narrative scenarios as a break from the normal steamroller fomat. And Caster Draft.
5. I actually got a demo of AoS. I was also pleasantly surprised by how AoS plays and the fact that its not quite the mess that it was at launch. But its not what im looking for in a game.
6. I have some 54mm Inq and i get about 1 or 2 games a year.
7. As 1) WM/H and Malifaux
