Hey guys I recently finished Lords of Silence, ended up loving the whole background of Vorxs warband. It has inspired me somewhat, but more than anything just wanted some information on their units on the board. I would not want to use a Daemon prince or even mortarion. I noticed that their Nurgle equivalent of a Chaos lord was the Lord of Contagion but that was a terminator armour Lord, was wondering what the best option was for Deathguard HQs?
I also love the idea of getting my Lords Retinue together and wondered how these guys worked on the board:
Tallymen
Malignent Plaguecaster
Deathshroud Terminators
I also noticed two different kinds of termies, I am unaware of which as the better setup. Although, I would %100 have some Termie bodyguards with scythes.
One more question! I was always steered away from Deathguard because I never thought painting wise I could do them justice, over the years I have got to a level that I am reasonably happy with, not great but not bad. How difficult are they to paint in reality? guts, rot etc, I do not want them to be easy as to be honest I love a challenge. But I am also a bit of a perfectionist and knowing they were not up to par, would irk me!

Plaguecaster is ok, tallyman is meh, deathshroud look cool but dont play well in the game. Blightlord terminators (the other kind) are very good if you learn to play them, they have good weapons and look neat as well. I would say magnetize them as well

Thanks for the reply bud! What would you magnetize there just seems to be a ton of options. Although I can play around with weapons etc when the time comes. Automatically Appended Next Post: Zid wrote:

Ok noted! You would be surprised! Automatically Appended Next Post: The problem I will have is that I do not really like the Drones as a model, and not a huge fan of Daemons, although I do like poxwalkers, they look great.
I have the idea of a great screen on cultists/poxwalkers, followed by Plague marines with terminators and characters(Surgeons, tallymen, Lords etc). With some vehicles they have stolen following in there tracks. I imagine this is not a feasible way to play, and most likely kind of dull.

I magnetized all 10 of my blightlords, magnetize all the heavy weapon options (in case they buff the reaper ac to be good, or the flamer), all combi bolters, and maybe a couple combi plasma arms. Just ensures your not pigeonholed into just bolters. The ccw arm can be whatever, axes generally are always better than swords even if they adjust stuff lol. The +1 strength is better than the additional ap for the sword

Take a look at my sig, i have posted a lot of battle reports for death guard.
You wont go wrong with plagueburst crawlers, foul blightspawns, poxwalkers are ok if you use them get typhus

Why would it be dull? I play Death Guard as old, bitter loyalists and don't use daemons. We often play with loads of terrain and Cities of Death rules (+2 saves, -1 to hit, height advantage and all that jazz), which means it can take ages for anyone to clear your marines from objectives as they lob blightlauncher death around and my terminators teleport in to wreck face. Cultist run in the streets harassing light infantry and die immediately, but they've done their bit by then. Add Contemptors, Leviathans, Scorpii and what not in there and have fun. I even run a Rhino when pushing forwards
Regarding HQs, Plaguecasters are very nice, as is Typhus (though expensive) and the LoC is a travesty. If you have good gaming buddies, ask them if you can run a Chaos lord with T 5 and Disgusting resilience and reduced movement for 10 points extra. We use that and like it, as the lord is a nice, personal fella, but the GW model-rules-policy screwed our faction in the silliest way here and there.

I like the sound of that to be honest. I am assuming the adding of Dreads is through the FW indexes?
Thankyou for the input though, it has quashed my fear of being dull. Always loved the idea of a deathguard army, slugging forward with FNP.

Yup, Hellforged section from the FW index. Contemptors are just sweet nowadays with point drops. A reliable BS 2+ terror for ~150 points that runs quick and has a 5++? Yes please, especially as being Death Guard they can move and firr Heavy weapons withot penalties.

Just curious, how many blightspawns would you use in a 2k list? They seem great fun and extremely useful.

Problem with Death Shroud is they are so slow, only a 4" move, they can be easily kited, one tactic I want to try and do is bung them in a land raider, disembark do the damage, get back in LR and then move to next location.
