Hey gang, this is a short question from an unusual situation. I bought the Start Collecting Space Marines box, it comes with a Captain but I'm building Dark Angels. Dark Angels do not have Captains, they have Masters. You'd think, "that's fine what is the problem here?" It's the fact he comes in terminator armour and I'm trying to figure out the colour scheme.

Do I go green armour and white robes or white armour and green robes? From what I understand of the lore, all Dark Angels in positions of command within the regular companies are all previous members of the Deathwing. So they wore bone white termie armour. However, sergeants in the regular companies will wear the regular green armour (but this is not termie armour.) The Dark Angels Company Master model from GW sheds no light because he's not in terminator armour, but the codex does still have a listing for a Company Master in terminator armour. Additionally I have come across no examples in lore of the terminator armour being used by anyone other than the 1st company, the Deathwing. So I have literally zero examples of green terminator armour. But obviously this Master is not in the Deathwing anymore so he shouldn't be following their colours, he should follow his own company's colours.

If you actually understood any of that I would appreciate any fellow fans of the Lion who are able to shed some light on which direction I should take things. I mean no disrespect to those with the opinion "who cares, pick the colour scheme you like." Thing is, I like all the colour schemes of the DAs and I do love the lore of it so I really want to get this right. The majority of my first squad is painted and based, but I've been holding off on the Master because I was hoping my reading would get me the answer. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get an answer. Please help!

Are you sure?

The master is a captain/ commander (sicarius, tycho,Ragnar Blackmane )

the supreme grand master is the chapter master (marneus calgar, Dante, Logan Grimnar)

For colour I would go retro, deathwing style Bone armour with green robes

He's still in the Deathwing, and in fact the Inner Circle, if he's been given the rank of Company Master. But the uniform for someone in such a position is very likely to be unique to the individual and if you want to paint him green, go ahead.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

No; induction into Deathwing is only one of the prerequisites for entering the Inner Circle. Ravenwing members can also be inducted into the Inner Circle without having to be inducted into Deathwing - i.e. Sammael, who was never a Deathwing. The Librarius and the Reclusiam also does not require previous induction into Deathwing & to wear TDA.

Not exactly quite right - Deathwing go into battle exclusively in TDAs (apart from dreads of course). It isn't that only Deathwing can wear TDAs, but Deathwing only wear TDAs. If you're a Deathwing that is not encased in a dreadnought, you MUST go into battle in a TDA as it is an honor to do so. If you're Inner Circle and not a part of Deathwing, you can choose to wear a TDA.

My take on this is that if you are a master of a dark angels company you can have your armour white or green, up to you. Or a mixture, they are allowed to have personal heraldry on their armour and all that so I would say you couldn’t go wrong either way. White would be more standard as people are used to seeing terminators in white armour from dark angels but green could look very nice too.
